Waiting on Wednesday [19]: August Releases

Once again, I’m a bit late as I used to do these posts at the beginning of the month. And since I was doing God knows what then, I wasn’t able to write it. So here, I thought I’d share with you some of the books that I’m looking forward to acquiring this month.

Things You Save in A Fire by Katherine Centre | The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang | Fence, Vol. 3 by C.S. Pacat | The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai | Ziggy, Stardust & Me by James Brandon

I’m especially looking forward to reading volume 3 of Fence. I feel like I’ve waited long enough for the volume! Things You Save in A Fire features a female firefighter – which I’m so curious to read about. The Right Swipe is purely because I’ve been seeing this everywhere on Twitter. I thought I’d check out what the big deal is. Ziggy, Stardust & Me by James Brandon is a coming of age story about a gay teen set in the backdrop of the Vietnam war. I’ve been dying to read this book since I saw it on Goodreads. An finally, The Dragon Republic. Now, y’all know I’m not much of a fantasy reader, but I absolutely love The Poppy War so I can’t wait to get this book in my grabby little hands!

The Day He Came Back by Penelope Ward | Happy-Go-Lucky by L.H. Cosway | Blood Truth by J.R. Ward | Outfox by Sandra Brown | Handle with Care by Helena Hunting

The Day He Came Back is a second chance romance, so of course, I’m down. Happy-Go-Lucky is a story about an extrovert trying to lure an introvert out. Outfox is a no-brainer. I mean, I already have a copy so, I can’t wait to dive in. And I just love, love, Ms. Hunting. I can pretty much guarantee that I’ll read whatever she puts out. Also, Canadian!

what about you? what are you most looking forward to reading this month?

Waiting on Wednesday [16]: May Edition

As always, May is a great month for new releases. Not so much for my wallet, however. Here are a few of the books I want to feature for this post. Let me know which of these books are on your wishlist as well.

Only Human
by Sylvain Neuvel

Release Date: May 1st

I love this series. The first two books ended so painfully like a good series should. I requested a copy from Penguin Random House but it hasn’t arrived. I’m guessing I didn’t get it. Sigh.

A Court of Frost and Starlight
by Sarah J. Mass

Release Date: May 1st, 2018

I really hated how A Court of Mist and Fury ended. So of course, I’m dying to read this book. I picked up a copy just this past weekend, and I’m trying hard to resist taking a peek at the end. Teehee.

I Was Born For This
by Alice Oseman

Release Date: May 3rd, 2018

I just finished reading Ms. Oseman’s Radio Silence. I’m floored with her writing chops, y’all. I also like that this bookĀ speaks to my former life as a fandom follower.

Level Up
by Annabeth Albert

Release Date: May 17th, 2018

I am a huge fan of Ms. Albert. Also of M/M romance – and she does them well! Her main characters always have chemistry in spades, so I’m looking forward to this one about a physicist and a photographer.

Aftermath
by Kelley Armstrong

Release Date: May 22nd

Another book that I’ve requested that I didn’t get. Sigh. Anyway, Kelley Armstong is one of my favourite Canadian authors so I’m always excited when she’s got a new one out. Especially if it’s a YA book. She’s an expert in suspense!

LIFEL1K3
by Jay Kristoff

Release Date: May 29

Everyone but my neighbour’s cat seems to be reading this on Instagram – lucky! I know I will be lining up for this one unless some wish-granter will put me out of my misery and send me an ARC. Lol.

All the Little Lights
by Jamie McGuire

Release Date: May 29th, 2018

I was just wondering the other day what she’s been up to. Then I stumbled upon this book while scoping out Net Galley. I requested it but I never got a response back. Such is my life. Sigh.

So these are the books I’m looking to covet this month. Have you read them? And what are you waiting for this month?

The Magnolia Story by Chip & Joanna Gaines
The Waiting Tree by Lindsay Moynihan

Oh, man. I’ve just realized why I quit doing these posts all those years ago. Lol. It is not easy to do! I have to scour the interwebz for a list. Goodreads has a list but Amazon has a more extensive one. And then, this week, I decided to provide a link for each book so, it took me forever to draft it. I do enjoy it, though. And for my benefit, I like knowing what’s coming out this week.

I’m so excited to read Twisted Palace! OMG. The ending of Broken Prince was just so cruel. I can’t wait to read this. Needless to say, I’ve already pre-ordered a copy. I’m also looking forward to reading Royally Screwed by Emma Chase! Love me a good prince and pauper romantic story!

What about you? Anything from this list has you chomping at the bits?

new-4 new-3 new-2 new-1

This past weekend, we had a book club meeting (sort of). No one read the book we picked aside from two people (oh, the humanity!). Yep. Our book club is off to a fantastic start. Lol. I’m there to meet up with other people who share the same interest as I, anyway so I don’t really care. The best part of going to the meeting is the venue (it’s at a bookstore, naturally). So I usually end up coming home with a bunch of books.

I was so ecstatic to see Holding Up the Universe so early! So I picked it up along with Crooked Kingdom. But I was disappointed to see that a couple of the books that were released last week was not on their shelves so I went to another location the next day. Lo and behold, I found a copy of Replica and Aerie several days before their release days!

I know authors hate it when we buy books ahead of the release day because it doesn’t count towards the sale for the week. Some authors don’t really care but I remember someone (not naming names) who gave a stink about not making the best seller list because her book was released ahead of time. Whatever. I bought your book. You’ll get the money eventually so staph. Anywho. What about you?

Do you get as excited as I am when you see a book out before its release date?

New Releases for September 27, 2016

I have this annoying habit of preordering books that I’m looking forward to reading then, going to the bookstore on release day to pick up a copy. This week, I made sure I didn’t have any of these on my preorder list to avoid my husband’s knee-jerk conniption fit when he sees two copies of the same book. Lol.

I’m sure Leigh Bardugo’s Crooked Kingdom is on everybody’s haul this week, as well, Like A River. I’m looking forward to reading those, too along with Rosamund Hodge’s Bright Smoke, Cold Fire.

What are you most excited to read this week?

Hot Off The Press [20]: This Week Will Break You

img_2306 When I was starting out as a blogger, I used to do a regular post about the books that are coming out on any given week. Then it came sporadically because I got lazy. Well, here we are; here I am, floundering, because I’ve been uninspired lately (hence, the less than regular post as of late).

In an effort to jump-start my stalled blogging schedule, I decided to look back to my old posts and look for inspiration. I stumbled upon this feature. It’s probably not going to help my ongoing struggle with curbing book purchases butĀ at this point, I’ll try anything.

I’m somewhat surprised with the number of books coming out today. And though, I know this list is probably not as comprehensive,Ā I hope there’s one or two that will catch your eye. I think I’m going to pick up David Arnold’s latest for myself even though I haven’t read Mosquitoland. Anyway, let me know what piqued your interest, and happy reading!
