Saturday Snapshots [5]: Favourites in Black & White

I have read several hundreds of books in my short lifetime.
I’ve met thousands of people –
been to many places.
Battled my demons
Avenged my loved ones.
Seen it all and did them all
through books, I’ve lived many lifetimes.
Escaping reality
living fantasies
tears that I’ve cried
for made-up people
whose struggles were so real
…as real as if they were mine.
You can’t write if you can’t relate. – Beck, Loser

Saturday Snapshot [4]: In and Around the Cabin

I’m just going to let the pictures do the talking…

Saturday Snapshot [3]: Scenic Sephias

Hello. I hope you’re having a great Saturday morning. I’ve been up since five (reading). I don’t have a normal human’s instinct to sleep in during the weekends, much to my body’s disappointment. Goodness knows, I need it. I usually work 56 hours a week compared to the usual 40 and an average of 6 hours of sleep per day and a less than healthy diet of whatever’s in the pantry and, or freezer box, it’s no wonder I can’t get over this cold, cough, flu that’s overstayed their welcome. Sigh.

This week’s Saturday Snapshot are a series of pictures taken last night.
This is Seagram’s. They make Crown Royal (whiskey). On the drive, you can get a whiff of alcohol permeating the air.

A trio of deers.

Dilapidated, ancient truck.

Drive.

Saturday Snapshot [2]: #BookNerdProblems

About a week or so ago, I posted a series of pictures on Instagram depicting some of the idiosyncracies of people like me – someone who is completely obsessed with books and hashtagged it with BOOKNERDPROBLEMS. So today, I thought I’d add some more to what I’ve already posted.

I can never find a bookmark when I need it. I end up using random things within my reach (cell phone, hairbrush, plastic spoon, remote control…etc…my boy’s hand).
I always have multiple books on the go. I find myself switching from one story to another. It gets confusing sometimes but I like taking breaks in between novels.
When I’m packing for a trip, I worry constantly that I might not have enough books to read. This one was an Easter weekend trip to the cottage.
I flick the pages of a book to get a whiff of that freshly printed smell. Weird, I know.
When I fall in love with a writer, I REALLY fall in love. I buy every single one of their work and sometimes, in multiple copies.
I may be running a fever of 100 degrees or hacking up a lung but I am never too sick to read. Excuse the enormous black lump sitting with a book in her hand. I was layered in fleece trying to sweat out my fever.

Saturday Snapshot [1] – Where I am

Today, as I’m sitting here willing the Saturday afternoon away, I started looking into blogs for interesting memes or posts. I stumbled upon Alyce’s At Home With Books blog and saw her meme called, Saturday Snapshot. I’m not a photographer by a long shot but I do love taking pictures. Lately, a lot of the pictures I’ve taken are book related. The beauty about Alyce’s weekly feature is that you are given the liberty to post any pictures that you want provided that it’s clean and family-oriented.

So every weekend, we spend our Fridays and Saturdays at our cabin. It’s an hour away from the city – quiet, serene and you can count in one hand how many cars would pass by during the two days that we’re there. The place is called Arnes, Manitoba, in an area called Pebbled Beach.
The drive last night was a little busy. It’s the first legitimate warm weekend we’ll ever have so everyone  seemed to have trekked out of the city to get away. My husband drove. He’s the worst passenger-driver ever so I never drive when he’s in the car. 🙂
We’re somewhere here. I’d rather not say where exactly.
The sun was about to set when we got here last night. Just enough time for a quick walk.
And the agenda when we’re here, is veg, relax, read and listen to some music.

Enjoy your weekend!
