Books I’m Dying To Read in 2017

Hello, 2017!

These are the books I’m eagerly anticipating this year.

Release Dates: January 3rd, January 9th, January 10th, 2017

Release Dates: January 17th, January 24th, February 7th, 2017

Release Date: March 7th, 2017

Release Date: April 4th, 2017

Release Dates: May 2nd, May 13th, May 23rd, 2017

Release Dates: May 30th, June 6th, 2017

Release Dates: July 11th, August 1st, August 22nd, 2017

This list may look incomplete at first glance considering it stopped at August. But really, it’s not. I haven’t seen anything worth past August 22nd but if you know of a new release I might enjoy coming this year, let me know in the comments.

As I’m going through this list, I noticed a few were from Simon & Schuster and its imprints. I am very conflicted. Given whom they fronted $250K for a book deal and the kind of hate this vile creature purports, I don’t quite feel good about contributing in the livelihood of that thing. Because like it or not, and even if you decide not to buy his book, any money that goes in the pocket of Simon & Schuster indirectly funds the prosperity of that misguided idiot. So I don’t know…

I’m looking forward to reading these books, nonetheless.

  • Ohh, I’m actually waiting for three of these too, haha 😀 Lord of Shadows. <3 Ahhh. It will ruin me, I'm sure of it. Ugh. And Spectacle. SO excited for it 😀 And Traitor to the Throne too. <3 Eee. Lovely list sweet girl 😀 I hope you will love all of these precious looking books. <3

  • I was not a fan of Lucian Divine :/ Like at all. I’ll be picking up Frostblood very soon! I hope it’s good. I got Swimming Lessons from BOTM. Idk if I’ll be reading it, but it does sound interesting. I need Alex, Approximately!!! I loved Jenn’s other book so much. I just started ACOTAR, and already thinking of buying ACOMAF. So I can’t wait for ACOWAR. I have Royal Bastards and I’m really excited for it! I’ll be getting Words in Deep Blue very soon. I’ve heard great things about it 🙂

  • Etched in Bone! Lucian Divine! Two I am really looking forward to 🙂 Hope you enjoy them all!

  • Keertana @ Ivy Book Bindings

I am so excited for Love Interest, A Court of Wings…, What to Say Next, and Traitor to the Throne! The last book in the Others series was perfect, so I can’t wait for you to pick it up, but I am very curious to see what you make of A Breath of Fire because I didn’t wind up enjoying it very much but I do really hope it works out for you! Wonderful list, Joy!

  • bornandread

This looks like a great list – I think it’s going to be a good reading year for you!

  • What a great mix! I have Swimming Lessons from Book of the Month and it was to be my first read of the year, but I took a detour. I have been reading like mad already, but not at all the books that I thought I would be reading in January.

  • You have several books on your list that I’m excited for also. I just finished A Promise of Fire, and yes, book two is on my list. Spectacle, Etched in Bone and Eleventh Grave are all on my list too. Spectacle is probably the highest on my list as I loved Menagerie.

As for S&S, I completely understand your conflictions there. One hand, you don’t want to support a publisher who is supporting that dirtbag (to put it extremely mildly, many many worse words could be used here). If you stop buying completely, you’re hurting authors that have contracts with them. I don’t read a ton of authors from them, (Kim Harrison and Kresley Cole are the only two I can think of, off the top of my head). It’s a hard decision. I say that you have to do what feels right for you. All I know at this point is that I won’t be reading his book.

  • I’m conflicted too Joy. On one hand you don’t want to support that piece of shit, but so many innocent authors may be effected as a consequence. One way that you might be able to get around it, but S&S UK editions. They’ve said that they will not publish or support him. It’s not much, but a bit of peace of mind that.profits.won’t be supporting him whatsoever.

I am absolutely dying for Lord of Shadows, I can’t believe I’d ever say that about a Shadowhunters book. But Mark and that ending. I’ll be whinning until it’s released now.

  • Looking forward to a lot of these. I’m gonna start Eleventh Grave this weekend.

  • Omg so many fantastic reads here including Etched in bone, iron gold, traitor to the throne… Yessss I can’t wait!

  • Big yes to Eleventh Grave, Lucian Divine, Frost Blood, and Spectacle. I still need to decide if I’m going to finish A Court of Mist and Fury….

  • RO

Usually, I’m checking out a long list of new releases by October of the preceding year, and dang it I never got around to it! Seeing that you’ve done a lot the owk for me, makes me do the Happy Dance,Joy! Had no clue JR War was coming out with a new one, and lots more on your list. Thanks so much and Happy New Year! Hugs…

  • So many great books! I enjoyed Breath of Fire. I will be reading Frost Blood very soon. Spectacle is one that I cannot wait to get my hands on and of course, Pierce Brown’s new book is a must have. Great list!

  • I have an arc of Frostblood that I’m probably going to read after my current read – so excited!

  • Ohhh good ones!

I’m really curious about Lucian Divine. You have some nice books on the list! Yeah, I’m a bit conflicted by S&S. I just don’t get why they would give so much money to someone like that. It all comes down to sales, I guess. They know they’ll get tons of money in return.

  • I am most looking forward to Court of wings and ruin, I absolutely love that series.

  • I can’t wait for Traitor to the Throne either! I’ve already read History is All You Left Me, and I was actually pretty disappointed by it. I know a lot of people are going to love it, but I just don’t think it was for me. I have an ARC of Frostblood, so I’m hoping to read it soon before it’s released!

  • Karen

I want to read Alex, Approximately too! Bennett is a favorite author of mine.

I have Etched in Bone on my kindle but I’m waiting for uninterrupted reading time before I start in on that one. But I’m excited to read it!!

  • I didn’t make a list today, but if I had Anne Bishop’s latest would definitely be on it! I requested it from NetGalley and I’m hoping an approval comes through …

  • For now, it’s strongly just Iron Gold for me. Okay. Wait. Maybe I’m also looking forward to Carve the Mark and (somehow) Always ad Forever Lara Jean.

  • ChristinaBookAddict

Awesome list. I am also looking forward to Alex Approximately and the next book in the Court of Thorns and Roses series. Royal Bastards sounds so good as well. I will have to check out some of the other books…they are new to me!

  • I can’t wait for Iron Gold. I LOVE the Red Rising series! I’m so glad the author is continuing the journey with the same characters.

  • kindlemom1

Some of these, okay most of these, I definitely can’t wait to read as well and for some, I’ve already seen some good reviews for them so it makes me even more excited to get my hands on them!

  • I’m so excited for What to Say Next!! I need to read the Anne Bishop series asap.

  • I am also dying to read Iron Gold 🙂 I am huge fan of Red Rising trilogy and truly cannot wait for more from Pierce Brown.

  • I am so out of the link when it comes to upcoming releases because I’m really trying to conquer a few of the books I already own. Or all of them, whichever way the wind blows. But Alex, Approximately? After loving Night Owls, I so want to read that one!

  • I’m definitely looking forward to many of these! Iron Gold, 11th Grave, Alex .. I’m not going to list them all. But I’m also looking forward to the Ilona Andrews books.

    • Oh, and The Comfort Zone by Sally Thorne. I don’t even know hat it’s about, but after the Hating Game, I’m eager to read anything she writes!
