Life Lately: November

Hey, guys.

How’s it going? This month-end recap is coming to you early.

I had the worst stretch of book buying binges in the last couple of weeks, you guys. Book Outlet, as cheap as their books are, is not a very good place for people like me. One with no self-control whatsoever. As of this writing, three boxes have shown up on my doorstep. I was able to discreetly hide the first box that came from my husband, but not so much for the second box when our post man delivered it straight to his hands. Sigh. It’s out of control. I might have to do this thing they’re doing on YouTube where they cull their collection by donating or selling it online. I’ll show you what I got one day (maybe).

So. November. I had a slow reading month on account of November 8. And if you don’t know what I’m talking about, then, good for you. I envy you for being spared from knowing what went down. I read 10 books in total. Though I should say I read 11 because A Little Life by Hanya Yanigahara clocked in at 800 pages which should really account for two books instead of one. But I digress. I tend to gravitate towards my comfort reads when I’m having a tough time so you can tell I struggled a lot this month since I read 4 Sandra Brown Books. On the night of the election, after I shut off social media and any coverage on TV, I went and re-read The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. I knew I was going to need reinforcement and that novel, though, it didn’t completely alleviate the depression, at least helped for a bit. So thank you, Sally Thorne.

(Sorry about the formatting. I have very little patience today. Lol.)

I was relatively absent from blogging this past month because: reasons. I barely wrote any reviews and barely did my rounds. December might be a slow month as well as we head into the Holiday season. But I’m looking forward to the small break during Christmas.

I used my Instagram picture for this post because I want to give you a fair warning that you might see a vlog post here once in a while. I shot my first video yesterday (3 times) but I think I’m going to re-shoot because I look like an awkward spazzing moron. Sigh. So, you know. Get ready.

Thanks for reading!

  • All the hugs. <3 Lovely November recap sweetie 😀 And haaaah, I love that you got so many books from Book Outlet 😀 I can't buy from there, cause shipping to Norway is way too much : Ugh. Maybe one day, if I win enough money to have a house for myself, lol 🙂 But anyway. I'm sorry November wasn't all that awesome. Hugs. <3 You still managed to read a lot of gorgeous books, though, so yay 🙂

  • Awwww… I hope all is ok Joy!
Looks like you’ve picked up some good reads… I’ve just done a little Book Depository splurging, so I feel your pain!

  • I love this photo. You are not
the only person “with no self-control whatsoever” when it comes to books, Joy.

I didn’t know that A Little Life is 800 pages. I tend to grab a Sandra
Brown book when I need a break from stressful real life too. I’ve read three of
these books, but not White Hot. Was it good?

And I’m definitely ready for you

  • Yes for shooting! I am sure the video wasn’t so bad after all and don’t be too perfectionist <3 But it can be hard when you're trying to be natural but looking into the eye of a camera the whole time. I understand. And wow… that's a lot of books. I bought quite a few more than I have been doing lately but that has to do with all the Christmas sales… and the fair is coming soon so I will have the chance to buy more cheap books. In November I read 7 which is one more than my usual six, so I'm happy. 11 books is so good!

Hey- I don’t recognize that book shelf!! Haha. I am sorry this was a rough month for you. The American Election and A Little Life- that’s just to much girl.

I hope December works out better for you.

  • I think November has been really tough for many people. I think there are many people who got what they wanted on 11/8 that are disappointed to see what is going on now. I’ve seen some tweets from some disgruntled voters. I’ve been doing some relistening to books that make me laugh, because I needed laugh. I see a lot more humor books in my future. {{hugs}}

  • Yeah November wasn’t the best reading month but not my worst either. But for a week there I was doing quite a bit of re reading old favorites. I just needed something happy and cheerful to focus on. I did really love Rock Hard though, such a cute couple.

  • I have an order from Book Outlet that should show up at my house this week. I had like a million books in my cart but did cut it down. I tend to binge buy ebooks and audiobooks – my husband has no idea how many I have unread or he would freak out on me. Sandra Brown is always a good choice when you need a pick me up kind of read.

  • I’m still in shock over the results of the election. And yes, I kind of went overboard on buying books on sale this weekend from Book Outlet too. November’s just been crazy busy … I can’t wait for the holidays to relax!

I’m with you when it comes to being a little behind AND I lost a book! I have picked up a Planner thanks Anna at Herding Cats to get more organized. Can relate to the book buying binge.😀 Hugs…

  • Yeah November has been almost as big a bust for me as October was, as I was dealing with my eye surgery stuff but finally released on the 17th. The election stuff is horrific still to me. Scary. I’ve read Rock Hard and liked it. The rest I haven’t read. Hope you enjoy all of them!

  • shootingstarsmag

Oh gosh, I don’t want to think about the election anymore but I know we can’t forget all that is happening. It’s just awful. I’m starting to feel better in general though, and I feel like I’m reading more. I’m not really BLOGGING more though so I need to work on that one. I do want to have more posts for December.

  • Trust was a fun little read! I, for one, wanna see some unboxing. 😉

  • November was pretty rocky for us all, I think. I don’t even wanna say how many books I read this month. I’m excited that you’re considering vlogging! I will definitely be a subscriber, as I love your blog and I will also be patiently waiting for those books going on sale, lol!! Happy reading!

  • So you are saying that those are your shelves? Um… come over and un-clog mine, would ya? LOL I’m getting a bit better myself after the disaster and that help came from others who were as fighting mad as I am now. It is good to not feel alone. And even though you aren’t in the US, I know this election will impact you as well. Sorry about that. ((HUGS))

  • I am struggling this fall too, I am always behind, catching up, falling behind

  • ChristinaBookAddict

November has been a really, really slow reading month for me as well. I’m feeling really uninspired and the state of the US doesn’t help. I’m glad you liked One True Loves–one of my favorite books of the year! I look forward to your vlogging! How fun!

  • kindlemom1

November has not been the best month for blogging for me either (I haven’t even blogged on my own blog for over two weeks and it looks like this week is not going to be any better). Oh well, we do what we can right? I seriously might just need an extended break or something, I don’t know. I’m just not feeling it right now.

And while I understand the book buying thing, it really is fun to get them in the mail isn’t it? Feels like Christmas even if it is somewhat naughty. 😛

  • I would love to see what you got in all of those boxes! Looked like an epic haul of books!
