I need some good romance recommendations, y’all. Since my Kindle came back to life, I’ve managed to read a bunch of really good romance novels. I’ve particularly enjoyed Vi Keeland’s and Penelope Ward’s collaboration. But ever since then, the rest of the books that I’ve downloaded wasn’t really floating my boat. So I’m wondering if you can recommend something good and easy.

I’ve taken to re-reading the books that I’ve recently downloaded which sucks because I’m wasting valuable reading time. So I’m wondering if you’d recommend something good for me?

Tropes  I Like

  • Once Again, with Feelings. I suppose this is better known as second-chance romance; where one of the characters left abruptly (or not) for whatever reasons, then come back. They realize that whatever they’re searching for somewhere else was right where they were all along.
  • I Hate You but I’m not Going to Kick You Off My Bed. Ah when characters realize the hate they feel for another is directly proportionate to how much they want to sleep them. Sometimes, these characters will go through a self-hating spell that tend to get annoying. But hey, the sexy times tend to be hot when tempers are a part of the equation.
  • One Night Stand = Bun in the Oven. I looove this trope. I know some of you probably hate surprise pregnancies in romance novels but I can’t get enough of them! I love that moment when the dad sees their spawns and recognizes why the face looks familiar.
  • I Want To Take A Ride on Your Harley. Bikers. Yep. They’re cavemen and they’re infuriatingly bossy. But I love reading these books even though the feminist in me wilts every time I say that out loud.
  • I’m Julia Roberts to Your Richard Gere. Billionaires, man. Billionaires. This is one of those instances when I’m embarrassed to admit it, but, hey. We’re friends, right? And my secret is your secret. *winks*
  • Heaving Bossoms and Flowing Locks. Otherwise known as historical romance, yo. Y’all have been all over them lately and I can’t freaking keep up! Give me the bestest you can think of that has a combination of one, two, or three of the above tropes I mentioned. That would be super cool!

So let me know if you have some good recommendations for me because goodness knows I need something to be happy about these days. Sigh.

  • Ahhhh… I love Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward too…
    Also Helena Hunting, Elle Kennedy.

Have you read Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry? YA/NA romance series with biker dudes. Sounds perfect as in my review I said something along the lines of loving the biker gang, but my inner feminist being pissed throughout the whole thing lol R xx

  • So I’m not the world’s biggest romance reader (or fan hehehe) so I don’t know how much I can help, but it definitely looks like you have got some awesome recommendations! I hope you find some awesome reads.

  • Oh man, I could recommend books all day! It’s my favorite thing to do!!!
Okay, historical romance – Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare
The Allure of Julian Lefray by R.S. Grey
Have you read the Love me with Lies series by Tarryn Fisher?! OMG – it’s a must
Don’t Let Go by Sharla Lovelace
Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley is my favorite biker book
    Hero by Samantha Young
    Virgin River by Robyn Carr
    Bossman by Vi Keeland

I have lots of recs for you. Do rock stars and/or famous actors count for your Pretty Woman trope? If so, then I’d highly recommend Idol by Kristen Callihan, Act Like It by Lucy Parker and Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre. I would also recommend the first 3 books (Lick, Play, and Lead) of the Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott – they have hilarious banter that puts a big smile on your face. The Rock Star’s Secret Baby by Blair Babylon features two of your tropes – the hero is a rock star who discovers he has a 3 YO daughter who is ill and he falls for her doctor. A couple of Entangleds that I’d recommend for short, easy billionaire reads are Jackie Ashendon’s Talking Dirty with the CEO and Talking Dirty with the Boss (this one also features a surprise pregnancy). Tapping the Billionaire by Max Monroe was cute with a nice guy billionaire hero. Finally, Jessica Clare has a Billionaires series that I’ve read a couple of – The Billionaire and the Virgin and The Taming of the Billionaire. I think the whole series is probably good and there are billionaires in each book.

On the pregnancy and/or kids trope, if you liked Worth the Fall, I think you’d love Sustained by Emma Chase. It’s written entirely from the hero’s POV. He’s a successful attorney who falls hard for a woman who got custody of her 6 nieces and nephews after her brother and sister-in-law died. Absolutely adorable. Jane Graves also wrote a surprise pregnancy book that I really liked called Black Ties and Lullabies which features a millionaire who sleeps with his female bodyguard who then gets pregnant. A couple of good surprise baby romances are The Baby Bargain by Jennifer Apodaca, and One Night With a Hero by Laura Kaye. Finally, I’d recommend Smooth Talking Stranger, a contemporary by Lisa Kleypas, featuring a playboy Texas millionaire hero and a woman who shows up at his office with her baby nephew, claiming that he is the father.

  • Unfortunately I’m not a romance reader, the closest I have for you is Red Rising, which is sci-fi but features some prominent romance lol Tori @ In Tori Lex

  • karina

Over The Edge by Meredith Wild has billionaires and pregnancy trope 🙂

  • karina

The Duke of Sin by Elizabeth Hoyt. SOO GOOD! Bad Boy Billionaires Club series by Emma Holly. Hold Me by Courtney Milan as a hate to love romance.

  • You know I just read about all these tropes you love and suddenly I hit a blank. I really can’t think of a single romance novel at all anymore even though I have read so many D: If you like NA, I would recommend something by Santino Hassell… or Leigh Carron.

  • shootingstarsmag

I really like the book Talk Dirty to Me by Dakota Cassidy. I believe that would be a second-chance romance. I need to read the other two in the series too!

  • I wish I had something for you to read. Aw. But I do not read romance books, haha 😀 ONE DAY, maaaaaaybe. Far in the future. Haha 🙂 But for now, not reading anything like that. Aw. Just not interested in the plot :p But anyway 🙂 I hope you find some amazing and cute books to read sweet girl. <3 Hugs.

  • Hmmmmm, I am always drawing a blank when asked

  • Lol, you’re the person I turn to when I need romance recs! So I’m coming up empty, ha. But I love the second chance trope – I think thats why my favourite Jane Austen novel is Persuasion!

  • I’m not the best person to ask about contemporary romances. I do love The Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz. For a great romantic suspense M/M series, there’s Cut & Run by Abigail Roux. If you’re looking for a little bit of a darker side to romance, Skye Warren has a few series where couples come together in some pretty difficult situations. Aleatha Roming has some Erotic Thrillers (she has several books free right now). Good luck on your search.

  • I agree with Nick! You need Lauren Layne in your life!!!! I want to recommend Corrupt by Penelope Douglas but I don’t know if it would be your thing. It’s an Erotica Suspense. Personally, I don’t read Erotica, but this is a book I’ll have to read over and over!

  • Lauren Layne! Read her Stiletto books!
    Lisa Kleypas!
    Sarah MacLean!
    Tessa Dare!
Yes, I’m yelling at you to read all these authors!

  • Recently, I read The Hating Game by Sally Thorne and really enjoyed it. It fits perfectly your second point/trope and it is great haters-to-lovers romance story 🙂

    • Yasssss! I love that book. Easily a favourite of mine this year!

      Thanks, Lucia!

  • I am listening to one now that isn’t any of those. Pregnant widow with 4 adorable kids and a Navy Seal that doesn’t do relationships. Sigh. It’s called Worth the Fall. Loving it.

    • OMG. Yassssss. I love Claudia Connor! 🙂

      • You’ve already read it? I knew nothing of this book or author until a 2 for 1 book sale on Audible and I bought it because it sounded good and it’s so good!

  • You know I don’t read that much M/F romance so I honestly can’t help you there. But have you read Tigers and Devils series by Sean Kennedy? Or Life Lessons series by Kaye Harper? Those are the two I keep going back to, aside from my addiction, which is Mary Calmes. Life Lessons always has a mystery since one of the MCs is a cop, and there are kiddos, which is a definite plus when I’m in my low angst romance mood.

    • Ohhh I forgot to include M/M on my list. Love Mary Calmes, as you know. But I’m going to check out Sean Kennedy and Kaye Harper. Thanks for the recommendations!
