Hot Off The Press [20]: This Week Will Break You

img_2306 When I was starting out as a blogger, I used to do a regular post about the books that are coming out on any given week. Then it came sporadically because I got lazy. Well, here we are; here I am, floundering, because I’ve been uninspired lately (hence, the less than regular post as of late).

In an effort to jump-start my stalled blogging schedule, I decided to look back to my old posts and look for inspiration. I stumbled upon this feature. It’s probably not going to help my ongoing struggle with curbing book purchases butΒ at this point, I’ll try anything.

I’m somewhat surprised with the number of books coming out today. And though, I know this list is probably not as comprehensive,Β I hope there’s one or two that will catch your eye. I think I’m going to pick up David Arnold’s latest for myself even though I haven’t read Mosquitoland. Anyway, let me know what piqued your interest, and happy reading!

  • How’d you go with Stealing Snow, Joy? I read it and it was an ok book for me.

  • I’ve heard great reviews for Metaltown, Stalking Jack the Ripper, Female of the Species and Vassa in the Night! Surprisingly I haven’t heard much about Stealing Snow or Frost Like Night yet but I’m looking forward to reading them.

  • Thank God my library was properly prepared!!

  • YES! I think everything is coming out this week. September is always the craziest month for releases.

  • ChristinaBookAddict

So many good book coming out this fall. I have a copy of Stalking Jack the Ripper that I want to get to…it seems like the perfect book for the fall. I also am intrigued by Vassa, but haven’t read too many reviews for it. Thanks for sharing this with us!

  • Ooh, I love this feature Joy! I never know what books are being released until I see other bloggers reading or reviewing them, then purchase a copy. I’ve read Witch’s Pyre and it was a pretty good finale and have a review copy of Stealing Snow I’m looking forward to as well. I still need to read book two in the Snow Like Ashes series, thanks for the reminder. Hopefully that nasty slump lifts soon Joy, I’ve been through a few already this year and only was able to shake them off by picking up a really fantastic read <3

  • I’m really curious about Stalking Jack the Ripper and want to give Metaltown a try as well. I’ve got ARCs of Three Dark Crowns and The Swan Riders that I still need to read and found Vassa in the Night to be an interesting read (still trying to get my thoughts on it together for a blog tour).

  • I’m so curious about Stalking Jack The Ripper. I also grabbed the newest Kate Daniels and that new Penelope Ward/Vi Keeland one.

  • oh so many pretty covers!!! I am super excited for Immortal Nights, Sands always writes hilarious reads.

There are a LOT of books that came out today. I do like these type of posts though, because it shows me what I didn’t realize was coming out. So many I want. I read and loved Stalking Jack the Ripper, but I need my own copy. I want Kids of Appetite (I still need to read his debut too though), Three Dark Crowns, and The Female of the Species.

  • I liked Kids of Appetite and look forward to your thoughts on it. I have seen some good reviews for The Female of the Species and may have to check that one out. Metaltown looks pretty awesome as well. Thanks for sharing!

  • Yes, Kids of Appetite is a must for me. I am looking forward to reading a few of these.

  • I really just can’t read enough to keep up with all the books coming out lately. Metaltown is one I had been waiting on after the Glass Sword, but it’s release has slipped past me and now I just want to read it. The same goes for Every Hidden Thing!

  • I’ve been looking at Vassa in the Night and The Bookshop on the Corner. Those two are on my wish list from this week.

These are great reminder posts for me because I always forget what’s coming out, when so thanks for doing the work I don’t want to do. Haha.

  • Boooooooks. My pretties

  • I’m so intrigued by Ripple. I love that cover way too much. I’m getting The Real Liddy James in the mail soon to give away on my Instagram.
I know a few bloggers share these releases every day. I think it’s great since some of us don’t know all of the books coming out/forget their release date.

  • My blogging has absolutely sucked this year, mostly due to a full time job and so many extra curricular and chronic fatigue…so reading time has been minimal, and blogging time even less so. Gah!

Looking forward to Jennifer Mathieu’s latest, and Jenny Colgan’s one is the perfect feel-good rainy day read! And I’ve heard good things about Kids of Appetite.

  • Karen

This month is crazy with all the new releases! I’ve read quite a few already but still have 8 to go (physical arc’s)

    Karen @For What It’s Worth

  • Jenny @ Supernatural Snark

Oooo lots of exciting books this week! I can’t wait for the entire second row, and of course Stalking Jack the Ripper. I’ve been hearing good things about that one Joy!

And I’ve stalled lately on blogging too, you’re not alone there. *sigh*

  • kindlemom1

I love these types of posts because I always forget something each week and it is nice to see what books others are excited about or know about their release. Thanks for this and I’m glad you are starting it back up again. πŸ˜‰

Stalking Jack the Ripper caught my attention. I’ve been watching a BBC program titled ‘Ripper Street’. It takes place in Whitechapel during the time of The Ripper and the police force dealing with crime in general and the forensics available to them at the time. I’m kind of broke right now, so I’ve put the hardcover edition of this book on my Paperback Swap wishlist.

  • I am wanting to read Stalking Jack the Ripper but will have to see if my library has it. And the Lynsay Sands book continues a story that started in the book before that so I want to read that one as well. Hope you are having a good week!

  • Eee, yay for so many pretty books out today πŸ˜€ Lovely post Joy. <3 All the hugs. I hope you will love those that you get and read πŸ˜€ I'm getting Metaltown, though I did not like the book much at all.. sobs. Also getting Witch's Pyre, though I have only read book one so far, lol. I loved book one. But when I heard what happened at the end of book two.. I was so disappointed, lol. But I must know how it ends πŸ˜€ Aaanyway. I also got Three Dark Crowns. <3 Cause I loved that one. Feeling sad that I did not buy Afterward.. I wants it, haha. Oh, and I have an ARC of Vassa in the Night. Curious about it πŸ˜€

  • some really beautiful covers and some I heard so many great things about too

  • So much to look forward to this week! I already read and loved some of these, and Three Dark Crowns was a massive disappointment, but there are a few, like Frost Like Night (which I just bought) that I can’t wait to start.
