First Star I See Tonight by Susan Elizabeth Phillips | The Call by Paedar Ó Guilín | Not Quite a Wife by Mary Jo Putney | Tell Me Something Real by Calla Devlin | Elysian Fields by Suzanne Johnson | Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult | The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena | Nostalgia by MG Vassanji | The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Joon
How have you all been? It has been one of those weeks where I can read for days but I can’t write to save my life. So other than a recap for the month of August, it was dead quiet here on the blog. I did have a great mail week, though. Penguin Random House sent me a package of awesome. So that made up for the sucky week.
I also downloaded some audiobooks and ebooks because I’m weak and lacking the ability to say no. In my defense, these five books only cost me less than $25 so that’s okay, I guess. Shhhh.
Cooper | Menagerie | Chasing Fire | Hide | Crash
Cooper is book #6 of The Family Simon by Juliana Stone. I didn’t realize I’m two books behind in this series. I guess I need to get book #5. Menagerie and Chasing Fire were on sale at Audible for $3.95. I started Chasing Fire but I think I’ll have a better time reading my hardcover copy because I’m not feeling the narrator.
And oh, where do I start with Crash and Hide? I totally blame Rowena for these books. She had Crash listed on Books She’ll Never Touch and of course, that’s like a red flag to the bull. I downloaded Crash and read it in a couple of hours. After that, I’m hooked. These books are messed up, and the characters even more so. I don’t even know where to start. It’s like watching a spectacular train wreck and I can’t look away.
In spite of the radio silence this week, I read like a maniac. Five books! And considering September barely started, I’m excited to finally have a good reading stride. I’m now 9 ahead of my Goodreads goal.
OMG. You guys. YOU. NEED. TO. READ. SLEEPING GIANTS. I have no words. NO. WORDS. I’ll try to write a semi-coherent review soon. I don’t know if I can, but I’ll do my best.
Here are the rest of the books I read this past week.
In case you missed it, I announced the winner of my $100 Amazon gift card giveaway. Congratulations, Sara! Make sure you take a pic of all the things you’ll buy with your winnings. 🙂 Thank you all for entering and I hope you’ll continue to follow me on my blogging and reading adventures.
Have a great week, everyone!
