Life Lately

I hope you’re all doing well. If you’re not following me on any social media platforms, you might not have heard it yet that I’ve been in a cast for a week now. I tore my ACL last Tuesday, went to Urgent Care the next morning, got Xrays, then 4 hours later, my leg’s been mummified. It is not fun, though I should say that the pain on my foot is no longer excruciating. I’m ready for this cast to be off, though. I’ve never felt more claustrophobic as I have these last few days.

Pretty good contribution for #SockSunday, if I may say so myself.

I wish I can say that I’m making good use of my time as an invalid, but I’m not. I only took a day off from work then went back the next day because I’m fairly new at my job and I really like what I’m doing there. I’m in a bit of a reading slump, but it has nothing to do with me being immobile. To be honest, I blame one book for this wretched curse. One of these days, when I have the energy and time to write a review, I’ll tell you the root and cause of this madness.

April TBR Differential: +10

I want to cry. I can’t believe I only read 9 books in April! This won’t do. This won’t do at all.

Anyway, I wish you the best of May, y’all! We no longer have a cabin. *sobs* But I can now focus on our home. I’ve always wanted to fix up our backyard so now I have the time.

Burning Question of the week:

Who the heck would cheat on Beyoncè?

  • karina

Oh noes! Sorry I’m so late with my commiserations, J.! Reading all the posts I missed and hope you are alright. Glad you are enjoying the new job! huggles x

  • Holy crap you poor thing, I hope your foot feels better soon!

  • Oh no Joy, I hope your foot heals quickly! <3 <3

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your new job. Good things come to those who wait πŸ™‚ Ha, I wish I could even read 9 books a month πŸ˜›

  • I am so sorry about your leg! And I really hope you get over your reading slump soon. I hate those!

  • Don’t worry about the books, they will still be here whenever you have the time! I feel like making you a shirt that says ‘don’t worry about your books, worry about your foot’ haha.

Hope you can find some reading time πŸ™‚

  • Oh No! I’m so sorry to hear this. I can sympathize some what as my daughter (10 yrs) recently hurt her foot and was put in a boot and crutches for six weeks. Everything became so much more difficult and time consuming. I hope it you get that stuff off soon, and… I want to know the story behind the curse!!

  • I am so sorry about your injury. And I need to know more about the curse, because I kind of believe in stuff like that. Sending healing thoughts your way!

  • Hugs sweet girl. <3 Still so sorry about your foot πŸ™ SOUNDS SO PAINFUL. Ahhhh. I hate being in pain, lol. I hope the cast will come off shortly. <3 Hugs. And aw, I'm sorry you haven't felt like reading much lately πŸ™ And ahh, I wish to know which book you are talking about πŸ˜€ Hope you are having the best week. <3

  • Jazmen

Shoot! I hope your leg gets better soon! All the way better that is. I’m right with you and this slow reading nonsense. It’s like what happened to us?!

  • Melliane

sometimes we have quiter month. I’m sorry for what happenned to you. I understand… no fun at all. Good luck

  • shootingstarsmag

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that! I hope you get your cast off soon. I sprained my MCL a few months back, and it wasn’t fun, though thankfully no cast – just a knee brace! Hopefully you’ll get more read in May, and that’s awesome you like what you are doing at your new job!

  • Oh wow Joy! That looks like it was painful! I hope you are doing better now.
At least you have the chance to catch up on reading now.

  • Ouch! I hope you feel better soon!

  • Keertana @ Ivy Book Bindings

I hope you feel better, Joy! And some months are just low on reading. I’ve had months where I’ve only managed to read four books so don’t worry, it happens. I hope you’re able to read more next month and feel better!

  • Oooh, I hope you get that cast off soon! Having a cast on your leg is the worst! How did you tear your ACL?

I’ll be curious to see what you think about Love, Lies, and Spies, AGOS, and The Raven King since I’ve got all three either on my wishlist or in my TBR pile. I hope you get over your reading slump! What book put you into it?

  • Jay Z cheated on Beyonce?!?!?!?!? WHAT?!?!?! That’s blasphemy, I must google this. I’m really sorry about your leg. I hope you get well soon. We are suffering from the same thing. It is amazing how one book can just kill your mood. I hope you find something that will make you dive back in soon!

  • Oh Joy! I knew you were hurt but not about the cast. How long do you have to wear it?So are you walking all that way to the bus with that on your leg? I hope not! The only reading slump I ever get into is genres. But I have to read something everyday or I would go nuts! I am out of the loop on BeyoncΓ©. It doesn’t surprise me at all though. Maybe that is why Adele was on Instagram going on and on about how wonderful Beyonce is today. So anyway take it easy and feel better!

  • I’m so sorry to hear about your
leg, Joy. I hope it heals quickly. And I’m very curious what book put you in
    the book slump.

  • Awww Jooyy!I I’m sorry to hear about your leg! πŸ™ I hope you start to feel better soon girl because thats no fun and then with the book slump dilemma it sounds like you’re really going through it! πŸ™

    Feel better soon, love! xoxo!

  • I hope you’re feeling much better! So curious to find out which book has you in a slump πŸ˜‰

  • The cabin will pave way for another awesome property. In the meantime, heal and have fun in your new job

  • kindlemom1

Oh no! I hope it heals quickly. πŸ™ I had no idea you hurt it, I didn’t even know they put casts on for torn muscles! Crazy. Hopefully you don’t have to wear it too long.

It will be fun to fix up your backyard, give you a new place to read. πŸ˜‰

  • I’m so sorry to hear about your leg!! That just sucks bad. How long do you have to be in a cast?
Now I have to know what book put you in this funk?!
I just got When We Collided…it’s had lots of mixed reviews, but I’m so curious. I’m so glad you liked Tell Me Three Things. Such a great book.
I hope things get better soon!!

  • Oh nooo! I hadn’t heard about the cast. I hope your leg heals quickly and well, Joy.
I’m sorry about the slump. It’s not fun is it? πŸ™ I hope you get out of it soon too!

  • Oh no! I hate to hear about your leg being in a cast. I haven’t ever had one but I think it would be dreadful. Isn’t is funny how one book can completely throw off your reading. I had an audiobook that turned me off so completely I didn’t want to touch another one for weeks. I am in a bit of a slump myself. Hopefully things pick up for both of us.

  • Sorry about your leg, but glad to hear that you’re enjoying your new job. Being in a reading slump sucks. What works for me, are books with lots of humor. I hope you find something to get your out of your slump soon.

Melanie @ Hot Listens & Rabid Reads

  • I’m so sorry to hear about your accident, Joy! I hope you get out of your book slump soon. Interested to hear which one put you in it. At least you like your job!

  • Aw man, that sucks, Joy! What a freaking trooper, though! Getting back on the grind so soon. Hope you heal quickly.

LOL! Your last comment about B.

  • Oh no!
    Sad books
And last yeah! Who would cheat on B?! She should dump him
