Good News

Well, I found a job! I’m so glad my job search is over, guys. It’s been a difficult couple of months and all I have to say is, thank the good Lord above. πŸ™‚ I have made a promise to myself to persevere, work hard, and enjoy this position because it could open up doors for me. It’s only a term of one year, but who knows what will happen, right? I just want to put all the bad things of the last couple of months behind me.

Blisters, Bussing, and Fitbit

The job is downtown and since the parking costs an arm and a leg, I decided to start taking the bus instead. My feet are covered in blisters because the bus stop is a bit of a walk (15 minutes from my house and another 15 to get to my place of employment from the bus stop downtown). But the best thing about taking the bus is that it gives me a bit of time to read and the walking helps me reach my 10K steps goal per day. By the time I get home, I’m exhausted but happy and relieved that I’m my own person again.

Missing in Action

Sorry for the lack of posts, guys. Like I said, I barely have enough energy by the time I drag my carcass home. I’m sure it’s only temporary. I just need to give my body some time to adjust to all these activities. Also, I need to find comfortable shoes! Today, I wore one of those Skechers memory foam walking shoes, but it still gave me blisters. Gah.

Moving Out

Like I mentioned last week, we started emptying out the cabin. *sad panda face* So this weekend, that’s what we’re doing. I’ll try to write some when I have the time this weekend, but I’m not making any promises. I tried to catch up on Bloglovin’ posts last night, but I only managed to read two-days’ worth of posts. I’ve got Monday’s and Sunday’s and Saturday’s to get through yet, so bear with me. That’s it for now, I think. I just want to give you guys a quick update in case you send out a search party for me. Lol.

Happy reading, y’all!

  • Glad you found a good job Joy, and the walking sounds good. I do love my fitbit too!

  • YAY JOY!!! So glad to hear that you’ve found a job πŸ˜€ You are so deserving of it, and I hope it goes well for you! Love the fact that you’re fitting in some exercise to and from work, it’s a great start to the day and gets the body pumping. Hope you can find some comfy shoes soon πŸ™‚

  • Jazmen

WOOHOO. I knew it was only a matter of time. Congrats on the job, you’ll get the hang of walking and what not–like you said you need the right shoes. Good luck with this job!

  • Congratulations on your new job! I am currently looking for a new job. I’ve been nannying for the last 2 years but I think I need something more steady now. I could be totally wrong, but taking the bus sounds fun…of course I’ve never been on the bus so that could be why. Good luck with the walking!

  • Congratulations on the new job! That’s awesome, and hopefully it will become something longer. I take the bus to work too and have to walk the same distance as you so I’m really happy that the weather is finally getting better. I usually walk around in flats in the summer; maybe you could try that and see if that prevents blisters for you.

  • Congratulations on the new job Joy, it sounds amazing and combines half an hour of exercise per day too, two birds with one stone I say. It sounds exhausting, especially with how much you’ve got going on at the moment. make sure you;re still taking time to take care of yourself sweetheart and don’t worry about blogging. We’ll all be here when you get into a routine and want to return <3

  • Congratulations on the new job! I’m crossing my fingers that your one year turns into something long-term πŸ˜€

  • Eee, SO HAPPY that you have gotten a job sweet girl πŸ˜€ CONGRATS. <3 That is such aaamazing news. So thrilled for you πŸ™‚ Hope it will go so well. <3 Hugs. But aaack, all that walking o.O I could never, lol. But you are aaamazing πŸ™‚ Hope it will stop being a bit exhausting, though. I hope you are having the best weekend sweetest girl. <3

  • Welcome back! Congrats on the job! I hope you like it πŸ™‚ I actually quite mine a week ago, because of a lot of reasons but mostly I didn’t like the place I was working at at all.

    • Thank you! And I hope you’ll find one that you’ll love should you start looking again. πŸ™‚

  • Sorry for the blisters, but so glad for the job! Congrats!!

  • Congrats on the job! That’s excellent! πŸ˜€

  • Melliane

I’m so happy for you and the new job, I know it wasn’t an easy thing

    • Thanks! It wasn’t. Apparently, not working makes me feel less of a person. I don’t know why. Lol.

  • Congats! I’m so happy for you! I really hope this works out for you in the long run. You got this!

  • Congrats on your new job! I hope you enjoy it πŸ™‚

  • Congrats on the new job!!

  • Oh Joy, I know you’ve had a rough few months so congrats on finding a new job! It’s also a 15 min walk to my bus stop from home and to work but I just drive to my bus stop from home lol. It definitely sounds like it’s a great opportunity, I’m so glad to hear that! Stay positive hun <3 I love reading on the bus as well,.

    • Thanks, jeann. I’m quite enjoying being in my head when I walk, but oh my blistered feet.

  • Congratulations on the new job! That is fantastic. I know it is a big relief for you. Good for you for taking the bus and making sure you get your steps. I wear a fitbit but some days it just reminds me how lazy I am.

    Carole @ Carole’s Random Life

    • Huge. Huge relief, Carole. It turns out, being a stay-at-home mom isn’t for everyone. My kids are older now, so they don’t really need that much taking care of, to be honest.

  • Congrats on the new job! I hope you enjoy it. I hope that the transportation starts to work out for you. You definitely need comfortable shoes if you’re walking that much. Good luck.

Melanie @ Hot Listens & Rabid Reads

    • Thanks, Melanie. I know! I need to find something good. It just sucks because It doesn’t really go with my office attire. Lol.

  • kindlemom1

Yay for the new job, huge congrats!!

I hope the move out goes well. I can imagine how hard it will be but it will all be worth it in the end right? *hugs*

  • Congrats on the new job! I know how stressful looking for work can be! πŸ™‚

    • Thanks, Jenn. And thanks for stopping by!

  • Congratulations on the new job,
Joy! Everyday walking is a great way to add fitness in your life, but need comfortable
    shoes. Good luck!

  • Jenny @ Supernatural Snark

YEAH JOY!!!! A huge congrats on the new job!!!! I’m sorry your feet have blisters from all the walking, but I’m glad having to get to the bus stop each day is helping you meet another goal:)

    • That’s the silver lining. Lol. Thanks, Jenny!

  • Congrats on the new job! I’m in a temporary position myself, and while that in itself can be stressful, it’s been one of my geatest opportunities to expand and make new connections. Wishing you luck and happiness on your new venture!

    • Thanks, Julia. Loving it so far, but I’m already thinking of the year ahead and the stress of looking for another job. Lol. I really should stop.

  • I’m so happy that you got a new job! I’m glad that you’re going into it with such a positive attitude despite the blisters – I do hope it opens doors for you!

  • shootingstarsmag

Congrats on finding a job! It might be a one year term, but you’re right, it could open doors for something even better! Oh gosh, if you find shoes that DO NOT give you blisters, please let me know. I have the worst luck with shoes. I’m thinking of getting my feet fitted at a running place to find some sneakers that work. The last pair I bought still gives me major blisters. Sigh.

    -Lauren
    http://www.shootingstarsmag.blogspot.com

    • Thanks, Lauren. Gah. You should see the amount of band aids I go through everyday!

  • I’m so happy you found a job, Joy! Congratulations! I hope it’s nothing short of amazing for you. πŸ™‚
That’s great that you’re taking the busy though ouch to your feet. You should listen to audiobooks while walking. You’d be surprised by how distracting that can be and it won’t even hurt your feet.
    Good luck, Joy! πŸ™‚

    • Oh yes! I listen to audiobooks when I walk and on the commute as well. πŸ™‚ Finally listening to Marked in Flesh. And thanks, Nick!

  • Yay! Congratulations on this new job and I hope you’re really going to like it <3 It's also great that your taking the bus – both for the fitness walking brings as well as the reading time. I just hope you can find something comfortable for your poor feet <3 I also know the feeling when it comes to being behind. I've been posting but I haven't been commenting back or sharing on social media since Saturday and I should really get onto that…

  • ChristinaBookAddict

Congratulations on the new job! This is great news. And that’s awesome about your fitbit goals!

    • Great news, indeed. Thanks, Christina. πŸ™‚

  • Congratulations on the new job – that’s wonderful news!! I’m thrilled for you and your new adventure! I have always kinda envied people who live in big cities and get to take buses or trains to work. I would love that extra time to read in the morning, that’s great you can do that!
Take the time you need to get adjusted to your new routine. And again, I’m sorry for you having to move out of the cabin. I’m sure that’s really hard to let go.

    • Thank you, Brandie. I used to envy people on the bus as well when I used to drive to work. Though I not looking forward to taking the bus in the summer heat. Gah.

  • Keertana @ Ivy Book Bindings

CONGRATS ON THE JOB! You never know what this position could bring you and for all you know, it may get extended past a year too! Best of luck for the new position, Joy, and I hope your life becomes de-stressed with this news! πŸ™‚

    • Thanks, Keertana! Considerably so. πŸ™‚

  • *Throws confetti* Yay! Also, you’re talking to the blister-awareness queen. Having hiked part of the Appalachian Trail, I know a thing or two. Step one: Find out where your blisters are coming from. In the toes? The toe box is probably too small. In the heel? I think that means you’re stepping out. But the BEST WAY TO STOP BLISTERS — moisture-wicking toe socks for hiking. Really. They’re magic.

    • Whoa. I’ve never heard of such socks. I need to find me a pair. You’re like a wealth of knowledge, Ellen. Lol.

  • Jasprit

Congratulations on the new job Joy, I know how stressful it can be looking for a new one. Also I said this before but its sad you have to say goodbye to the cabin, your picture of your shelves on Instagram the other day was gorgeous! And yay for more walking, its so hard to try and reach your goals on fitbit, but since I’ve got my new watch it’s definitely been more motivating, I’d love to add you on there!

    • I know. I’m so so sad. You should see the place now, Jas. It’s practically unrecognizable. Oh and my basement is full of stuff which is giving me an allergic reaction.

  • Yay for the job!

  • Congrats on finding a new job, Joy! The wait in limbo I’m sure was really stressful. Great to hear about your walks! That’s 30 min a day you’re clocking and a wonderful way to stay in shape! I should friend you on Fitbit. πŸ™‚

    • How do you do that? I only have one of those pretty basic Fitbit, so I’m only monitoring my fitness for the day.

      • My Fitbit is super basic too, but I have the app on my phone. You can add people through their
        Email address.

  • I am so happy for you! I don’t suppose you have any New Balance athletic shoes do you? I have arthritis in both my feet and they are what the Podiatrist recommended. I get the ones with the roll bar in the sole. They aren’t cheap but so comfy. The ones without the bar would probably work just as well. Just a thought! Hope you enjoy your new job!

    • It is sounding like I should invest in a good pair, so I might just look for one. Thanks for the recommendation, Lorna.
