Blogging at 2 in the Morning

My day usually begins at 6:30 AM regardless of what day it is. I get up, get my boy ready for school then get him and my husband out the door by ten to seven. I used to be a part of the population who starts the day frantic. By the time I get to work, I’m frazzled. Well, nowadays, things are different. Since revamping my daily routine, I’m finding more ways to be productive. But some days, like today, waking up at 2 AM for no apparent reason other than my mind is too loud, shoots that productivity all to hell.

That’s okay, though. It’s given me time to draft this post. I wasn’t really going to post any Hoarders post until my INBOX/OUTBOX at the end of the month, but I thought I might as well do one now. So this week, I managed to read two books (both for reviews) and have recently found my historical romance stash. Granted, I’ve already read them, but I have this urge to re-read them to see if I may be persuaded to venture towards that romance sub-genre. Here are the books I got:

These books are all from Penguin Random House Canada. I did buy Marked in Flesh but I haven’t taken a picture of it. I still have to get Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, but I probably have to wait to pick up a copy until I can make some good headway on my TBR for review.

I had to take these photos from my Instagram because I haven’t had the chance to take a group photoΒ of my books yet. Like I said, I wasn’t going to do this post, but I’ve got time on my hands now. Lol.

Still nothing on the job front, unfortunately. I’m trying not to panic because BEA is coming up. My hotel is booked. My registrations are paid for. I’m redeeming my points for my flight. Technically, I can still go. But if I were to take a new position say – next month, my future employer might not appreciate my taking some time off so soon. I guess I’ll just have to disclose that before they decide to hire me.

Anyway, Β I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week and weekend. I have another interview tomorrow (I had three this past week). Wish me luck!

Ahh those photos are so gorgeous!! Good luck with the job search, remember everything happens for a reason and it will all work out!! xx

  • Wow… some interesting books there Joy! I love the pics!

  • Ahh, wishing you the best of luck job hunting sweet girl. <3 Sniffs. You will find a job. I know it. <3 And ahh, BEA. I am SO jealous πŸ˜€ Want to go so badly. But pissed that it isn't in NYC this time :p Ugh. But couldn't afford it at all, sadly. Next year, maybe πŸ™‚ And aw, so so many gorgeous books. <3 I really liked Salt to the Sea. Those spiders looks awesome πŸ˜‰ lol. And creepy. And ahh! Joy! Go buy Lady Midnight πŸ˜€ IT WAS PERFECT. Screw the TBR list, lol. <3 This book must be read. And loved. Julian is the best character I know. Sigh. Read it πŸ™‚

  • So sorry to hear about the interview not working out Joy (seen you mention it in one of the comments below). There are plenty more jobs in the sea though Wait, that’s not right.

I do all my blogging between 3:30am – 5:00am. I’m in bed early each night and find the quiet VERY early mornings the perfect time to blog and check out other blogs too. The only downside that all the yanks and Canadians are online and you’re all so distracting πŸ˜€

  • I have done the whole blogging in the middle of the night thing too. Sometimes I can’t sleep and I actually feel more productive at that time of day. Weird. I really want to read Salt to the Sea. I hope you love it. Good luck on the job front!

    • Thanks, Cynthia. I did manage to write a few posts, so that’s productive. πŸ™‚

  • Good luck on the interview!! I hope everything goes well. Salt to the Sea is really good – enjoy!

    • I decided not to go. I cancelled my appointment yesterday because the type of placement they do is not what I needed right now. I have another one on Thursday (second from the same company), so it looks promising. Thanks, anyway! <3

  • Jazmen

You don’t need luck girl you got this! Here’s to the new job!

    • Sigh. I so wish I didn’t need luck. Lol.

  • Great photos as usual, Joy. I’m currently reading Salt to the Sea and I’m still trying to get used to the multiple POVs and how short they are! I hope your interview goes well!

    • It actually makes reading faster so I’m enjoying it quite a bit. πŸ™‚

  • shootingstarsmag

Gah, spiders! I can’t handle it! haha Good luck with the interviews. hopefully something will come about soon and that going to BEA will be okay! I understand the nervousness of looking for a job but already having things planned that you can’t miss. It’s tough, but I hope it works out!

    • I know! So creepy when I opened the package. I almost threw it on the floor. Lol.

  • You sound like a tank in the morning (in the best possible way?)

    • My husband said I sound like a tank when I’m sleeping. Bastard. Lol.

  • I hate it when I wake up super early for no reason. At least you used the time to be productive. I love the pics and hope that you really enjoy your books. I plan to read Salt to the Sea very soon. Good luck on the job hunt!

    • Thanks, Carole. I’m resisting the urge to open Salt to the Sea right now, because I have a couple of books queued up before that. Lol. #bloggerproblems

  • Good luck with a job! Those covers are gorgeous. I’ve been wanting to read Salt to the Sea.

  • kindlemom1

Good luck on the job front, something perfect will come up, I just know it!

And great pics! Those spiders, love it and hate it at the same time. πŸ˜›

  • GOOD LUCK! I sure hope you can get something that actually values you and sticks for a long time.

  • BEA seems so much like a dream to me. I do hope you’ll write about it so I can live it vicariously through you!

I’m definitely a frantic morning person. Lately my goal is to wake up by 6:30 (though I don’t have to work to get a kid and a significant other out the door [no kid and significant other is surprising self-sufficient in the mornings]), but I too had a loud mind the other night (morning?). I was up at 1:30 and couldn’t fall back asleep. I didn’t take the productive route though. I just binge read buzzfeed until 5:00 in the morning. What a waste!

    • Oh gosh. I suck at recapping an event. Last time I went, I barely did any recaps. I didn’t even take a picture of the books I got. Bah.

  • Best of luck! Hope everything works out for you. Love those covers πŸ™‚

  • I do hope your interview goes great and that one of these interviews is the “one”, good luck! I also hope you are able to go to BEA-where is it this year?Back when I worked I hated, hated, hated waking up in the middle of the night. Now I stay up until 4:30 or 5 am every night. An early night for me is 3 am. Hope you enjoy all your books!

    • I hope so, too, Lorna. It’ll be a month this week now. I’ve never had so much time in my hands. IT’s funny because before losing my job, I’ve been telling my husband that I don’t want to work anymore. And now, here we are. Sigh.

  • Oh wow going to BEA would be so cool! But I understand what you mean about that being a bit questionable. Try not to worry about that too much (even though I know that is far easier said than done). Also, lots of good books here. I’m hearing so many positive things about Salt to Sea and the Serpent King. And Rebel of the Sands too! I want Lady Midnight SO BADLY but I am actually going to stick to this book buying ban. Guess I won’t be getting that until summer…

    • Yeah. I’m thinking I have to wait a while to pick up a copy for myself as well. Hopefully in the summer – like you! πŸ˜€

  • I’m excited that you’re going to be at BEA this year – I’ve been thinking that maybe I can get some Chicago people to help me coordinate a BEA Bloggers Picnic like they had in New York so that we can all get together. It’s getting close – I need to jump on that if I’m going to do it!

    • Oh that would be so cool. I’ll definitely be interested. There are four of us going…that is if everything pan out. πŸ™

  • Good luck with the interviews and jobs you’ve already interviewed for. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night. If I’m really wide awake, I’ll put my earbuds in and listen to my audiobook for a while. I can do that without getting out of bed or waking DH. I hope you’re able to figure out how to make it to BEA. I wish I was going. Maybe another year.

    • I just read my Kindle so I don’t bother hubby. But I caught up with the blog and bloglovin’ so all in all, still productive. I went back to bed at 6:30 and didn’t get up till quarter to 9. Lol.

  • Your photos are stunning, Joy! I love how simple they are and the lighting is always top class.
Good luck on your interview and I hope things work out for you!
    Take care, Joy! <3

  • Good luck with interview and happy reading

  • Good luck with your interview! The type of insomnia where you wake early is a pain in the butt. You don’t know to take sleeping medicine because you fall asleep fine…but by 2 a.m., it’s too late to take something. I, too, find I’m really productive when I wake up early like that!

    • Thank you, Stephanie. I did manage to catch up and write a couple of reviews for next week. So that’s good. πŸ˜€

  • Melliane

some interesting books there! I hope it will be ok for your job research

  • ChristinaBookAddict

Good luck with your interviews! *fingers crossed!* I hope you enjoy Salt to the Sea – such a powerful read. I definitely cried. Enjoy BEA as well. I am jealous…never have been…hopefully one day! Have a great Sunday!

    • Thank you, Christina. And yes, I’m enjoying Salt to the Sea. πŸ™‚

  • Best of luck for your interview process Joy! It’s exciting that BEA is coming up for you to take your mind off it. It really does sound like you’ve needed this break just to reflect and enjoy life so that you can get all of the previous stress out of your system before you start a new job. Wishing you all the best!

    • Thanks, Jeann. Really anxious as to whether or not I’ll be able to go though. I just really hope I’ll find a job soon just to get it finalized. Gah.

  • Best of luck to you with the job hunting!! <3
