Hoarders, Books Edition: Episode 172

The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman | City of the Lost by Kelley Armstrong | Pillars of Light by Jane Johnson

I know, I know. You’ve barely seen my shadow this week. If you must know, I’ve tackled a personal project that’s been taking most of my weekends and weekdays, for that matter. I could share it with you all but then I’d have to kill you. So, yes. I’m here. Somewhat. Reading has taken a back seat, but I’m still somehow managing to fulfill my commenting duties.

Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada for sending me these books! I’m really excited to read these. To Carina Press for my galley copy of The Dirty Secret by Kira A. Gold.

I finally finished the Angelfall series by Susan Ee! Yay. I think the lag between books took too long that I couldn’t find the same enthusiasm I had for them as when I first read Angelfall many moons ago. Lesson learned. The Dirty Secret was fantastic! And Flat Out Love was too adorable for words.

I am in the midst of reading five books again. I need to stop doing this to myself. I also know that I’m going to fail on my January TBR as I’ve yet to touch them. I just need to get past these couple of weeks and then I can go full bore on my reading goals for 2016.  I will reset and fulfill all the things I’ve set out to do after this month.

Thanks for being patient!

  • I loved Flat Out Love too Joy, it was just so lovely and Celeste was adorable. She has her own book now too where she’s all grown up. I’m reluctant to read it though, I think I’d rather remember her as the quirky and eccentric child. I still haven’t finished the Angelfall series and I know I’m going to end up feeling the same way. I have the second and third book on my shelves and just feel like I’ve moved on. I won’t ask what the project is, I value my life too much. I’m barely blogging too at the moment and taking advantage of the warmer months and daylight savings to get stuck into the garden instead. Adulting. It really sucks sometimes <3 <3

  • The Dark Days Club looks like a good one (and that cover is lovely!) I hope you enjoy your new books 🙂

  • I’ve been looking forward to The Dark Days Club! I hope you’re able to get back on track with reading soon Joy! But it’s awesome you’re working on a personal project c:

  • Bec

The Dark Days Club was so good!! I really enjoyed it. I still need to finish Penryn and the End of Days series sometime soon…

  • I’ve heard a lot of great things about The Dark Days club, and Bec really liked it! I hope you enjoy your new reads 🙂

  • I noticed that I do multi-book reading when I’m PMS-ing LOL. I hope you started The Dark Days Club, it’s really good!

  • Oh my gosh! Five books? You really do have to stop that. I have found myself in the midst of three books right now, which I never do. If you are anything like me, your head must be spinning.

  • Yay for reading some books 😀 You are awesome. <3 And ahhh, I wish to know what you are doing 🙂 Hope you are doing okay sweet girl. <3 Yay for getting such pretty books 😀 I CANNOT wait to read The Dark Days Club. <3 Hope you will love them all sweetie 🙂

  • You have me curious about your personal project!! Enjoy!!
Glad to see you are getting some reading done as well!

  • The Dark Days Club! I’ve heard really great things about this! & I have Angelfall but I haven’t read it yet, next month I’m looking to read more backlisted titles, so this is definitely on my TBR!

  • You’re the opposite of me! When I get behind, I’m always not commenting, but I generally still read. But ooh The Dark Days Club! I’m so curious to see what you think of that!

  • Oooh, such pretty covers! I really need to read a Kelly Armstrong book. Glad you’ve finished something personal! That’s always a nice feeling. 🙂

  • karina

I was just eyeing The Dirty Secret on Netgalley a few minutes ago! 🙂 Okay, went and downloaded it thanks to your enthusiasm, J.!

  • RO

The title alone makes it sound intriguing. *heh* Kudos to you for getting all your stuff done, so you can relax a little and catch up. Big Hugs…

  • shootingstarsmag

Glad you got something personal finished -that’s always good! I really want to read Flat-Out Love. Glad you found it adorable. 🙂

  • Same thing happened to me with the Angellfall so I haven’t even started the other books. I did buy acopy of the first book though because I can barely remember it. You are reading five books… at once?! :O are you a magician?!

  • I just checked out Flat-Out Love from the library and I’m really looking forward to it!! I didn’t know that Kelley Armstrong had a new book coming out! Color me surprised. I’m going to go track down a copy now!

  • kindlemom1

Good luck with your project and your reading. January hasn’t been as great of a reading month for me I was hoping it would be but, oh well. What’s a girl to do right?

Yay for the new Armstrong book though, I’m excited about that one and hope you love it!

  • Gah, I still need to read End of Days! I hate leaving series incomplete.

  • Jazmen

I really want to read one of Kelley Armstrong’s books one of these days. Also, I have Flat Out Love maybe I need to jump into that. Good luck with whatever you finished working on 🙂

  • ChristinaBookAddict

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Dark Days Club!

  • Ooh I really want to read Dark Days Club, it sounds really interesting!

  • I’m curious to see what you think of Dark Days Club, that was just TOO weird for me that I DNF’d! I kind of know what you mean with Angelfall, loved the first 2 books but by the third I was kind of like meh.

  • I have seen you around my blog though! Those three books look interesting but the truth is that I know nothing about them xD I recognise an author there but that’s it so I have to wait till you read these to learn more about them. I’m glad you could finish off a series. That’s always quite a feat, although it’s a shame you didn’t love them as much as you liked book one 🙁

  • Pillars of light looks interesting
