2016 Most Anticipated Releases

2016 is turning out to be a great year for new releases. Whether it’s a series you’ve followed since day one or debut work from new authors, it is an exciting  year to be a book nerd. Today, I’d like to share you the books that I would kill, maim, and die for to get a copy.

A Gathering of Shadows Final  22062202  25494343

I’m pleasantly surprised to find two books in the Charley Davidson series that’s coming out this year. And though I’ve already read the ninth book, I still want to get a physical copy to add to my collection. In a sense, I supposed the ninth book is a bridge that will pave the way for the tenth book.

The Raven King is a long time coming. It’s been postponed for going on two years now, so I’m desperate to read this conclusion. I’m sad to see these kids go, but I really need Maggie to put me out of my misery already.

The Beast is the 14th book to The Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I know it’s about Rhage’s — well, beast. I hope JR Ward has something new to offer us with this instalment.

Haters to the left, to the left. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare is yes, in the same world as her Infernal Devices and Mortal Instruments. And I don’t care. I’m a fan of this series and if you’re not, then clearly, she’s not writing these books for you. Don’t buy it. It’s all for us, mkay?

The Golden Son by Pierce Brown killed me. Killed me. So yeah. I need Morning Star like I need my next breath. Gimme. Gimme. Gimme.

A Gathering of Shadows. It’s just one of those stories where the need to know what happens next is dire.

Marked in Flesh. Will they? Will Meg and Simon finally get together in this installment? Ack. Inquiring minds want to know!

The Shadow Hour. Man, this is one of those series where I know I want to read the next book, but for the life of me, I can’t remember what the first book was about. All I know is I need it!

  • I’m looking forward to Lady Midnight too! And the Beast!!

  • karina

Marked in Flesh was phenomenal, but I’m not giving you any spoilers, madam! 🙂

  • I am 75 percent into Vision in Silver. I am wondering about them getting together too-but oh that just would be something really new for her wouldn’t? Meg really would be doing some cutting! I have Marked in Flesh ready to go. Can’t wait to get into it!

  • Adriana C

I still haven´t read the first book of the series that you mention, but I do want to read Maggie Stiefvater series.

  • Morning Star has always been at the top of my list ever since I finished Golden Son just because that ending needs to be followed through already! It was a massive cliffhanger!!

  • Holy crap, yes, Morning Star is a NEEEEED!

  • Sara Walker

I’ve become completely addicted to the Charley Davidson series. I started them in October and I am on Book seven now- I’m going to be very sad when I catch up. It’s good to know that there are two coming out this year.
I was just thinking that I really should Reread the Raven Boys- people have adored that series and I think I liked it when I listened to the audiobook, but the story is hazy. And The Beast- yeah, I’m curious to see what that’s going to bring us this year.

    Happy Reading.

  • I’m really looking forward to The Raven King, A Gathering of Shadows and Lady Midnight too!! I recently marathoned The Raven Cycle and omg I need to know what’s going to happen next! I cannot wait for Lady Midnight to come out and I will gladly read 10 more trilogies set in the same world if Cassie wants to write them.

  • I’ve read The Dirt on Ninth Grave already, too. Enjoyed it, but it wasn’t my favorite installment. I can’t wait for the next one and I’m dying for The Raven King, as well. I’m most looking forward to Marked in Flesh! Dying here for more Simon and Meg!

  • Gooorgeous post Joy. <3 Sigh. YAY for waiting for such amazing books 😀 I'm dying to read a few of them too. Lady Midnight 😀 A Gathering of Shadows 😀 The Raven King 😀 The Shadow Hour 😀 I really need to read the Red Rising books soonish. <3 I do own them. But aw, sweet girl, The Raven King has not been postponed that long at all 🙂 It was supposed to come out September 2015, it has just been pushed a few months later 🙂 Aaaaanyway. I hope you will love all of these precious books when you get to read them sweetie. <3

  • I CAN’T WAIT FOR LADY MIDNIGHT!

  • I want to finally start The
Raven Cycle series, I know, I know I’m so late…

  • I’m super excited about Marked In Flesh too!!! 🙂

  • I’m getting the feeling that I should read some Pierce Brown. He’s all over the place lately but I just haven’t…for whatever reason…been that interested? Hell, I don’t even know what genre he writes in lol I will have to fix that this year.

I don’t mind Cassandra Clare’s books (well, most of them, I struggled with her first). I’ve only read the Mortal Instruments series and keep meaning to read the others, guess I’ll have to get onto that too!

  • Isn’t 2016 looking good for releases??

The Raven King is certainly the top of my list. If Gansey dies, I’ll probably die along with him. I know we’ve been promised that, but just NO.

  • Great selection – definitely looking forward to more Charley, as well as Meg & Simon, hopefully a very ALIVE Gansey, and, of course, to see what happens to Kell and Lila in alternate Londons!

  • The Shadow Hour is one I’m really excited for too! The others I haven’t read yet…

  • I plan on starting Ninth Grave today. YES! to Marked in Flesh and Tenth Grave too. I don’t think I’m going to read The Beast. I haven’t read the others, but I hope you enjoy them. I can’t wait to read your reviews of them. Here’s to a great 2016!

Really looking forward to Lady Midnight!! I was left wanting more after finished the Infernal Devices Series. Such a big fan of Cassie Clare. Some of your other picks have already caught my eye but they are mostly part of series which I haven’t started yet. I guess it’s time to look more into these series. Great post Joy!

    Precious @ Fragments of Life

  • I can’t wait for Golden Son, Marked in Flesh as well! So many amazing books coming out. I’m keen to give Lady Midnight a go, even though I never finished the CoB series.

  • I need to catch up on Charley Davidson! I also want to read the Anne Bishop books.

  • RO

Yes, yes to The Beast! Definitely looking forward to that one. Will you be doing a review when you snag it? Can’t wait to see if you do!

  • I really can’t decide what my most anticipated release is, I want to say Morning Star, but I also don’t want to know what happens. Same thing with The Raven King. It’s been pushed back so many times, that I just need it nowww. But then I ALSO DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS EITHER.

  • I can’t believe knowing you are a TMI and TID fan is a recent discovery! For some reason, I would’ve guessed that you won’t have liked them, actually xD Although I have yet to finish the TID series since I started it towards the end of the last year, I LOVE TMI (Shadowhunter show soon!) and I want Lady Midnight like no ones business DD:

  • All of this especially with the Ninth and Tenth Charlie Davidson books! I want to read The Beast but honestly after the fifth Black Dagger book I started to lose interest with the series as a whole. But Rhage was one of my favorite males so I can’t say no to him, lol.

  • kindlemom1

Freaking YES to all of these!

  • Keertana @ Ivy Book Bindings

I am SO EXCITED for The Raven King, Morning Star, and Marked in Flesh as well, Joy! Wonderful titles! I’m also really looking forward to the sequel to Six of Crows and The Wrath and the Dawn. I can’t wait for these to release!

  • Jenny @ Supernatural Snark

YES TO SO MANY OF THESE JOY!!! I need to get caught up on Charley Davidson of course, but once I am I know I’ll be dying for the next book. And I’m going to start The Others next month, so I can’t wait to meet Simon and Meg finally! I’m really hoping The Beast will be a return to the beginning of the series style-wise. I miss those early books! The later ones are way too bogged down with secondary characters with ridiculous names 🙁

  • Great list, hope you get a chance to enjoy them soon

  • I just got the first book in the Charley Davidson series last week! I have been seeing it pop up on my blog and Goodreads feed a lot lately.

  • I have to try the Brown books, I did look at one this week, but it was book 2, booo library

  • shootingstarsmag

Definitely some series on here I still need to read! I hope these next installments (especially the finales) are great!
