Photo Vomit [25]: On Instagram

I know. I was supposed to have my TBR numbers up once and for all, but I’ve got to be honest. After the 100 count, I felt too disheartened to continue. So today, I decided to post my favourite Instagram pics from September. I actually haven’t posted anything this week. I’ve been really stressing out about life and work. Thankfully, I’ve at least eliminated one of the two. Well, obviously, I’m still alive, so it’s the work. Lol. Officially tended my resignation today. I’ve been working for the same company for 15 years now, so it’s quite a shock to everyone when they learned that I’m leaving. But, things have been too stressful for me over there, and I just feel like it’s time to find another set of challenge for me.
Anywho, Friday! What are you up to this weekend? We’re driving to the cabin after work and coming back tomorrow morning. Hubby has some OT, so it’ll be and the kids at home. Which is great because I’ll get a lot of blogging/ reading done after my chores. πŸ™‚
If you’re on Instagram, hit me up with your handle.
  • I hope you had a good time at the cabin!
Love the pics Joy, and yeah, I would’ve given up on the TBR count too!

  • I hope leaving this job helps you a lot, Joy! No need to stress yourself out unnecessarily, in something that can be changed. And how are your pictures so gorgeous all the time??

  • Ah wow, the decision to leave your work of 15 years must have been tough! But sometimes we gotta do things that are better for us in the long run. I hope it eliminated some of the stress in your life and YAY for more time for books and blogging. Nothing is better. I wish Canada wasn’t sooo far away from Georgia. I might have hopped into your trunk and gone with you to the cabin πŸ˜€ I love a relaxing cabin weekend. πŸ˜€

  • Woah, good on you for resigning and doing what’s best for you! 15 years is definitely a good run. Your photos are so beautiful on Instagram!

  • I’m glad for you, that you’ve taken the steps to making yourself happier. You might find things stressful to begin with, as you navigate the changes ahead (I sound like a magic 8 ball, don’t I? WOO! LIFE GOALS AND ALL THAT), but I’m sure it’s for the best, and I’m proud of you! GO Joy! GO Joy! Find things that make you happy and do them.xx

well, hell, J.! Congrats on leaving a stressful job! Whatever you do next, I wish you happiness most of all, sweetie! xxx

  • Yay for lots of gorgeous pictures. <3 I love seeing all your images πŸ™‚ You are awesome. I hope you have had an amazing weekend Joy. <3 Hugs. And happy reading sweet girl πŸ™‚

    • Thanks, C. I hope you had an amazing weekend as well.

I love the UK cover for The Anatomical Shape of the Heart so much! I’m hoping to read it sometime this month.

Good luck with your new job! It sounds like a change could definitely be a good thing πŸ™‚

    • Isn’t it though? But I think I still want to get The Anatomical once it’s out. ^.^

  • Melliane

you always have some great pictures. Maybe I’ll try Instagram one day!

    • Thanks, Melliane! You should. Just another way of letting us know what you’re doing. Heheheh.

  • I joined Instagram a few weeks ago. Peer pressure, all the kids are doing it these days. I’m boring though, so it’s just books on mine @divabooknerd

When you’ve been working at the one place for so long, it’s almost like returning to work all over again or starting your first job. That mix of excitement and pure terror. But no workplace is worth it when you’ve got that kind of stress and I’m glad you decided to leave, however hard that must of been. You’re a working mum Joy who takes care of a family, walking into a new job will be a breeze. If you need me, I’ll be on standby, waiting to sing my rendition of I Am Woman <3 <3

    • Aw. Thank you, Kelly. It was a tough decision, but I feel like it was time to move on. It’s gotten to a point where I’m taking the stress home with me. And that’s the last thing I want to do because it affects how I deal with my family. Also, what are you talking about? I love your IG feed!

  • I saw earlier you’re in the lake house again. Sigh, how I envy you!

    • You won’t envy me if you find out I have two mortgages. Lol. Kidding, it’s nice to get away on the weekends. And I especially love going there to visit my books and my little vinyl collection. πŸ™‚

  • sorry about your job, but stress is never worth it, sounds like you needed change

    • I do. But I’m terrified. I know nothing about the construction industry, so it’ll definitely be a learning experience.

  • Always love you Instagram picks! I love the Night Owls. Need to read that myself. And you got share Starbucks too. Who doesn’t love that. Have a lovely weekend.

    • Thank you, Emma. The Night Owls is so amazing! Easily one of the favourite reads!

  • I will try to find you on Instagram-I am fairly new to it but really enjoying it. Follow me under Lornak99 if you want πŸ™‚ A weekend at a cabin sounds like heaven about now. It’s done nothing but rain here for days. Enjoy your mini-vacation and your reads!

    • I actually cannot wait for the Fall weather! I especially love the rain! It’s been a pretty temperate September, but the beginning of October is at least showing signs of chill in the air. I will find you on IG!

  • Stress isn’t worth it in the long run, good on you for resigning and deciding to take on a new challenge πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoy your new path, whatever it may involve!

    • Thanks, hun! I welcome the challenge, but I can’t help but feel a little daunted by the title. Lol.

  • Life choices are always tough but you have to do what’s best for you πŸ™‚
Your weekend sounds like its going to be fun and relaxing.

    • I figure as much. Also a good choice for my sanity. Lol.

  • shootingstarsmag

That’s great you were able to make the decision to resign from your job – I hope this relieves you from a lot of stress and you can do something more gratifying! Love the photos!!

    • It alleviates a whole lot, for sure. And thank you!

  • LOVE! I can’t commit to Instagram for the life of me.

    • Hahah! It can get quite addicting once you get the hang of it. πŸ™‚

  • Jazmen

I hope things turn around and you enjoy your time. I’m so jealous of your cabin trips. I just want to go to one, curl in front of the fire and read read read.

    • Oh how I wish we have a fire place in our cabin! A wood-burning one would be fantastic. πŸ™‚

  • kindlemom1

I love that you are taking your health into account and making a change for the better, even if that change is a hard one. πŸ˜‰ I hope you have a fabulous weekend at the cabin with your family!

  • Wow, Joy. That’s great you’re taking steps to cut the stress, but yeah, I’m sure it’s a big step. Love the photos.

    • Thanks, Christy. It was time. 15 years was a long time.

  • Your Instagram feed is gorgeous! I’m trying to improve my photography but it’s taking a while haha! ;D My handle is @bookaholic007 πŸ™‚

This weekend I’m going to see one of my favorite authors (Derek Landy) talk about his new book and I’m hoping to get a couple of my books signed so I’m SUPER EXCITED!!!

    • Oh I can’t wait to hear about your adventures. πŸ™‚ I don’t think I’ve ever read a book of his. Any recommendation?

      • The Skulduggery Pleasant series by him is AMAZING. The plot twists, the characters, the humor…everything about it is so perfect! His new book is called Demon Road and that’s YA horror – I highly recommend it! πŸ™‚

  • Nicole Hewitt

Why not do what you want instead of what you’re “supposed to” – you’ve already got plenty of other areas in life where supposed to has to win out over want, so you might as well not add blogging to the list!! πŸ™‚

Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction

  • I love your IG feed. This weekend will be spent with my family and dogs πŸ˜€ Happy Weekend!

    • Thanks, Dre. I hope you’ll have a great weekend as well! <3

  • Love the Night Owls cover

  • Oh Joy, best of luck with the new phase in your working life. Some things just aren’t worth the stress. Have a good weekend at the cabin! gorgeous pics, btw. I like your aesthetic!

    • Thanks, Hannah. I hope you’re having a great weekend!

  • Once again, great photos!! I hope you have a lot less stress in your new job – that must have been hard so leaving after fifteen years – Yay, for being brave and to better things πŸ™‚ Happy Friday, Joy!!

    • Thanks, Kim. πŸ™‚ I’m crossing my fingers, but I know it’ll be a tough go at first considering I know nothing about the industry.

  • *drools*
I love the photos of Night Owls and the bookshelf especially but they are all great!

  • I am always I wanna try to make as awesome photos as you, but then I take out my tablet (only place I got instagram) and takes a meh pic

  • Whoa, fifteen years is a long time. Maybe a change is a good thing then? I also really love the picture with the light across the books on the shelf. Ah, so much love <3

  • I am literally obsessed with your photography skills, Joy. And I love how there’s always the perfect lighting/sunlight in your shots. <3
