Gratuitous Book Photo of the Week

The Bourbon Kings / J.R. Ward

It’s that kind of week, guys. When I can’t focus on any of the books that I have on my pile. And I don’t have any scheduled posts. So I’m practically grasping at straws. I hate skipping days though. I feel like if I miss a day without posting, it opens the door for excuses and hiatususesssss. At the same time, some people would just rather read something of quality than someone’s incoherent babbling. But who cares, right? I mean, I love reading your posts. So I don’t care if you talk about your cat, your neighbour’s cat, and how you want to get a tattoo of your neighbour’s cat. You write them, I’ll read them.

The book featured above is a recent acquisition. It’s very rare when I jump onto a book soon after I ripped the Amazon box it came from. The Bourbon Kings became somewhat of a precioussss commodity when I first heard about it, so of course I had to read it right away.

I don’t really have anything concrete to talk about today, except to share this gratuitous book photo of the week. I mean, if you’re like me, you probably spend hours on Tumblr and Instagram looking at #bookporn. I thought, why not? It could be a thing. I could do this semi-regularly. I could post a random picture of a book and talk about my day. πŸ™‚

I hope you’re all having a great week. I can practically taste the weekend. It’s long weekend for us, Canadians (yay!).

Happy reading!Β

I havenΒ΄t bought The Bourbon Kings yet, because I keep reading mexed reviews about it, so IΒ΄m going to pass it right now.

  • I do love these posts Joy, so I’m glad that you’re posting it! If anything I can stare at your wonderful photos. I haven’t heard of the Bourbon King, but I am enjoying the suited man at the front *ahem*

  • How did you know I have a tattoo of my neighbor’s cat?

  • Ha, I always enjoy your posts! <3 Looking forward to seeing your review for the Bourbon Kings – seen some rather mixed reviews so far!

  • I like hearing about your day Joy, it’s a nice break-up from all the bookish posts, and it just shows me that you’re not a robot (haha kidding!). I wish I can be as focused as you, and post on the blog every day — but alas I’m lazy hehe. Plus work is overtaking my life ew. LOVE the photo, I can’t wait to see more like these πŸ˜€

  • Hey, this is a brilliant idea for a regular post! I didn’t actually realise you posted every day *comically slaps forehead*- how did I not know that? It’s a huge accomplishment, I’d recommend you be heartily proud of yourself, Joy. This is a truly lovely photo, with the background colours glistening through. So nice. xx

  • Love the picture, girl! And seriously, you take great photos… you should have an Instagram account already! I can already see all the amazing captions and photos you’ll like, you’ll be a star in no time πŸ˜‰

I love random book pictures and books, so have it! YAY for a long weekend. That’s awesome.

  • Jasprit

I absolutely adore all your bookish photos Joy, so wouldn’t mind at all you doing a regular post as this one. I hope you’re enjoying your long weekend! πŸ™‚

  • I actually quite thoroughly enjoyed your babble. It was fun and so much more pleasant than an abundance of blitzes. πŸ™‚ It is rare for me to read a book straight after delivery too. I hope that this one lives up. I look forward to hearing.

  • I loved The Bourbon Kings, Joy!! I hope you do, too. Can’t wait for the next one. And no, I don’t want to get a tattoo of my cat or my neighbor’s cat, but my kitty’s are cute! If I wasn’t married I could be accused of being the weird cat lady. Lol! Great photo! πŸ™‚

  • Gorgeous cover! I love book covers which are so beautiful they feel like art:) It’s always sad when a great book has a bad cover:( Have a great long weekend!

  • Very pretty! I haven’t read anything by Ward but I really want to. Try not to stress about posts too much, although I’m always up to read whatever as well πŸ™‚

  • Oh, Joy! I don’t think I’d want to be tattooed with my neighbour’s cat, maybe my dog! But I am too scared to get tattooed. I think this can really be a thing. Sometimes there’s just nothing to talk about, but you want to post something anyway. It happens!

  • “If I miss a day without posting, it opens the door for excuses and hiatususesssss.”

I, too, greatly fear the dreaded hiatusssssss. Lol!

  • Ksenia

Love your post, Joy! I’ve hear
positive things about this book, I hope you’ll enjoy it.

  • Yes please. You should post posts like this every day, hih πŸ™‚ I would read and love them. <3 You are amazing Joy. And yay for gorgeous photo πŸ™‚ Hope you are having an amazing weekend sweet girl. <3

  • Patrick C.’s okay Joy! You’ll get through your reading slump. I usually just pick up a book I love or I’m dying to read to get back into reading. It’s also find if you don’t have schedule posted, just take it one day at a time!

    Happy Reading

  • And here’s me, I just made a post after over a week of no posts lol I have no excuse, I was just being lazy/had no motivation. It happens sometimes πŸ™

That is one good looking book. I hope you enjoy it!

  • I love reading anything you post, even if it is just a ramble. πŸ™‚ I enjoy Ward’s BDB series; although, I’m stuck on Lover at Last and really need to get a move on before I fall too far behind on the series. I don’t usually read any books without some sort of paranormal element in it, so I’m interested to know what you think of this one. I hope it is good! And I hope that you get out of your book slump, I hate those! I also thought I’d just tell you that my new kitten is adorable… my 18 month old Bengal is chasing him all over the house… they are playing go hide and go pounce with each other ;]

  • Melliane

    have a nice time!

My friend was quite mixed with this one so I hope you’ll enjoy it!

  • Whatcha doin?

Oh just hanging out with the Bradford-Balwines.

Throw in an iced sweet tea or lemonade, or even a shot of bourbon while you’re at it!

  • I like that photo! I’m guilty of browsing bookporn, too. πŸ˜‰ I like when people don’t skip a day; sometimes it’s nice to see a bit of “real life”.

  • Jazmen

I’m interested in reading this one. I really hope it’s good!

  • I’ve seen quite a bit about this one

  • RO

What in the world, Joy? I declare I just mentioned this on my blog today! Coming up with topics to discuss every day can be dang difficult, right? When it comes down to it, it’s your blog so you can do whatever you wish as far as topics go. Doing something different may sometimes that can help a slump. If you feel like taking pics of books, or the new pair of shoes you bought, or a new poem, I’m always in. (lol) Been hearing many different reviews on Bourbon Kings, but I’m glad Ward stepped out to try something different. I bet she feels she needed the break, too. BIG Hugs…

  • Aww! I’m sorry you’re going through a slump of sort. I hope this one will be a good one for you!
AND I love your babbling and your photographs so keep them coming! πŸ™‚
    Enjoy, Joy! πŸ™‚

  • Jenny @ Supernatural Snark

I’m having that kind of week too Joy! I just didn’t post one day earlier in the week because I haven’t been able to read as much and had absolutely nothing else to post, and that’s the first time I’ve done that in years. *sigh* I can’t wait to see what you think of The Bourbon Kings, I’m really excited for that one:)

  • Great pic Joy! I want to read this one! I hope you love it.

  • I’m seeing this book everywhere, I hope you enjoy it!

  • I hope you like it πŸ™‚

  • kindlemom1

I hope you end up liking this one, it is very soap opera-ish but in a very appealing way. πŸ˜‰
Great photo by the way. πŸ˜‰

  • I love that shot and the way the sun and the grass explodes in the background. πŸ˜€ This book is everywhere! I’ve been seeing it all over my feed on Bloglovin, lol. I have never read a J.R Ward book before because I feel like her paranormal series are a bit too much for me. But since this isn’t paranormal, I might give this a go. ;D

  • It’s your blog, I don’t see why you can’t share anything you want πŸ™‚ And nice picture-although as much as I loved J.R Wards BDB books, the other series I tried by her I didn’t care for so I probably won’t be reading this one. But I will be reading all the reviews πŸ™‚
