Before I Go by Colleen Oakley | We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach | Galgorithm by Aaron Karo | Three Day Summer by Sarvenaz Tash | Last Year’s Mistake by Gina Ciocca | Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli | The Outcast by Sadie Jones

I tell you, if it’s not health issues, it’s something else. Yesterday, I tried to play chicken with the bus (spoiler alert: the bus won. The bus will ALWAYS win). It’s a good thing that I was going slow, and he was going slow, otherwise, I probably wouldn’t be here. It was morning;  I haven’t had coffee yet. And I know that that’s not an excuse, but I swear to God, I never saw the bus coming. Anyway, I’m fine. The car, however, might’ve seen the last rays of the sun. May it rest in pieces.

This week hasn’t been the greatest, reviewing and reading wise. I’m a slave to my job, so I didn’t do too much reading. Needless to say, I did poorly on my assignments this week. On the other hand, Kate Perry’s Summerhill series pretty much took up most of my nights. The earlier instalments are definitely so much better than book #7 that I reviewed on Thursday. I might review them still as Morsels, or intermittently over the next few weeks. I stalked her author profile on Goodreads and found a few books of hers that I haven’t read. So, yay! 🙂 I really like her romance novels.

I would like to thank Simon & Schuster Canada for the three ARCs that they sent me: Last Year’s Mistake, Galgorithm, Three Day Summer. They all sound fantastic! Perfect spring/summer reads. 🙂

There’s not going to be an On the Night Table post for Monday, as I have yet to finish a couple on my queue. I’m halfway through Empire of Night, though. I’m determined to read A Darker Shade of Magic as well.

That’s it for me. I hope you’ll have a great weekend!

xoxo

  • Joy goddammit, drive responsibly! xD Think of all the books you won’t get to read if something happens.

  • Awesome books. Last Year’s mistake looks great!

I hope you enjoy 🙂 Happy Reading!

Girl! Why did you take on the bus?? I am just glad you are still here! Hope you got your coffee fix in 😉
    Enjoy your reads!!

  • Oh my! I’m glad you’re okay! Better for the car not to make it out than you.

I’m very curious to hear what you think of We All Looked Up. I couldn’t decide whether to read it or not. The cover FEELS so preeeetty, though. 🙂

  • No more playing chicken, Joy! Oh, my goodness, I’m so glad you’re okay!

I hope you get some rest and some happy reading time. Yay for finding a new favorite author. I’ll have to check Ms. Perry’s work out. 🙂

  • Oh gosh, good to hear that both were going slow. Take care and rest

  • Gee wheez, Joy! I’m glad to know that you’re okay! Road accidents are freakish, in a way. You never expect it coming, and it feels like just a second or two more at a wrong angle, your life would have been forfeit 🙁 I’m just glad you’re fine!! *hugs*

Enjoy your reads, Joy, and I hope you get to review them soon!

    Faye at The Social Potato

  • Wait, you were in an accident?! Thank god you are ok! I am so sorry to hear that, how scary 🙁 I hope these next few weeks look up for you and work eases up too. READ SIMON, that will help 🙂

  • Oh no, I’m glad you are alright Joy, I’ve been in a few accidents before and they are definitely a shock to the system. Beautiful pic, I hope you enjoy your new books lovely!

  • AHHH! The bus thing sounds SO SCARY o.O I’m so glad you are doing okay Joy. <3 That you weren't hurt. Ack. But the poor car. Sigh. Anyway. Yay for gorgeous books. <3 I don't have any of them 🙁 How mean, lol. But I do want Simon. Sort of. It seems cute, yet read a bad DNF review, so I'm unsure, lol. But still curious 😀 I hope you will love all of these books sweetie. <3 Happy reading 🙂 Also hoping you will stay safe. Ack. <3

  • Oh my gosh! I am so glad you are okay, how scary!!
At least you have some great books to read while you recover from your scare! Congrats on the books and I’m s glad you are safe even if the car is a loss.

  • Great haul of books this week. I hate when reading time comes second to our RL jobs. So understand your pain and frustration.

    Grace @ Books of Love

  • Ahhh, hope you’re OK?!

As for the delicious books, have you read Before I Go yet? Bring tissues. And chocolates. I’m in the middle of We All Looked Up at the minute, I’ve been in the middle of it for a while. I’m loving the writing style, and find it impressive for a debut, but I’m finding the plot quite slow… Will see how the review works out for this one… R x

  • I was in a bad slump last week too. Feel better soon, Joy, my love!

  • SHOULD I MAIL YOU BUBBLE WRAP?! I hope you enjoy ADSOM because everybody is raving and I cannot wait to read my own copy!

  • WHAT. WHAT. I’M GLAD YOU’RE OKAY!

Regarding those books, that’s such a lovely stack. Hope you enjoy Simon and also We All Looked Up.

  • Oh they’re all new to me this week except one and I’m not even sure. I hope you’ll enjoy them all. Happy reading!

  • OHMYGOD!!! Glad to hear you’re okay! Hope things will get better in the next week! Btw, I’ve never heard of any of these except for Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda. The cover is just too cute. Anyway, keep safe, Joy! 🙂

  • ohmy, glad to know you’re fine.. Road accidents really scares me which is why I never try to learn how to drive although my parents always tell me to do so already.
I’ve been seeing Simon vs. The Home Sapiens Agenda a lot lately. I’m thinking of adding it to my tbr soon. Hope you’ll have a better week ahead, Joy 🙂

  • Oh no :/
But at least some new books cheeredyou up

  • OMGOSH JOY, I’m so glad to hear that you are okay. Sorry about the car, but better it than you right?
I totally know what you mean, work is working me to the bone as well, not sure how I’m going to survive 40 more years of this. Definitely very lacking in reading time as well. I hope you have a better week next week, and find some more time for reading! xx

  • Christy

Dammit, Joy. Don’t do that! I’m really glad you’re okay. And I hope work comes together for you. You need another vacation.
