  • I´ve only read Archetype and If I Stay (loved them!) but I keep seeing All the Light We Cannot See and Aristotle and Dante in a some BEST OF 2014, so I need to add them to my 2015 wishlist.

    • Aristotle and Dante is the perfect book to read for the LGBT challenge. I hope you’ll have the chance to read them. 🙂

  • Totally agree with you on Aristotle and Dante! It was truly amazing! I really want to read Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I’ve heard lots of great things. Plus I also want to read I’ll Give You the Sun after reading (and loving!) The Sky is Everywhere!

    • You have to endeavour to read Me Before You this year, Marianne! It’s such an eye-opener of a book.

  • I’m glad you had a good amount of amazing reads last year Joy! I still really want to read All The Light We Cannot See, but I have no idea when I’ll get my hands on it. I was also supposed to read S a long time ago, BUT I FORGOT ABOUT IT TIL NOW. I forgot about most of these til now.

    • S. may look daunting at first, but once you get system going, reading it will be easy. I couldn’t, for the life of me, review it, though. I hope you’ll enjoy!

  • Loved, loved, LOVED Night Film!! Plus I am busting to read S by JJ Abrams! Happy New Year Joy!

    • I hope you’ll read it this year, Cathy. I’d love to read your thoughts on this book. 🙂

  • I hauled All The Light We Cannot See back in I think November so I can’t wait to pick that up! One Man Guy seems like my type of book, so you know I’m throwing that on my TBR as we speak lol. Everyone loves them some Cassandra Clare, and I’m really intrigued to see what she has to offer. I think I’ll start with the Infernal Devices series. Ahhhh S! I’ve been wanting to read that book for foreverrrrrr. I’m determined to get it, I swear I am lmao.

    • *Gasps* You mean, you haven’t read her Mortal Instruments series?! Get on that, girl!

  • I’ve read exactly none of your bests! My mom picked up All the Light We Cannot See for her book club a few weeks ago and it looks so good. I’m going to have to steal it from her once she’s done. And I’m dying to read I’ll Give You the Sun! Ooh, I did see/read If I Stay! I’m really hoping they’ll adapt Where She Went (though it doesn’t look too likely, huh?), because I liked it a lot more than the first.

    • Lol. You should definitely try to read your mom’s copy. 🙂 I’ll Give You the Sun. So good. So so good.

  • Nice list!! 3 of my all time faves are on it (Ari and Dante, One Man Guy and S.) And I can’t wait to read All The Lights We Cannot See and Night Film 😀

    • Night Film is not to be missed! Plus it’s the type of book you collect. I do hope you have it sitting pretty on your shelves already!

  • I’m so happy to see two of my favourites, Written in Red and Ari & Dante on this list! This is a truly wonderful list and I’m so glad you had many favourites. Here’s to an awesome 2015 bookish year!

  • I love going around and seeing who favorites which book. So much variety, but there are a few constants I see. Glad that you found and shared the ones you went crazy over 🙂 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  • I am gonna take a look at my list tomorrow 🙂

  • I seriously haven’t compiled my list fully yet!! But I loved Written in Red 🙂 and Archetype

    • Now that this post have gone live, I keep thinking of other books that didn’t make the list. Gah.

  • Ahh so many of these I have to read! But the ones I’ve read I completely agree with (CoHF, WiR, IGYTS). Ashley didn’t really like Aristotle and Dante – not her kind of book – and after that I sort of just brushed it off but then I’ve seen so many people RAVE over it and it sounds like I need to add this back to the top of my TBR pronto!

    • Girl, you need to give Aristotle & Dante a chance. It’s freaking amazing!

  • IF I STAY! ARISTOTLE & DANTE! Loved them! Especially the latter! They were so so cute together and making such a beautiful couple….what a read it was! So I’m super glad you included it in your list. I’ll have to try ONE MAN GUY!!

  • I looooved Written in Red and Aristotle last year and I’ll Give You the Sun made my list this year. I definitely want to read All the Light, though, so that’ll be high on my TBR for next year, not to mention Night Film! Wonderful list!(:

    • Thanks, Keertana. Looking forward to your reviews when you finally get the chance to read them!

  • Faye M.

Absolutely agree with Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop 😉 It could also win BEST WORLD-BUILDING, BEST ROMANCE, BEST ACTION, among other categories, in my opinion! Haha.

    Faye at The Social Potato

    • Right? I don’t normally read books from this genre, so I’m doubly surprised how much I loved them. 🙂

  • Hmph. I have only read one book on your list, lol 😀 But City of Heavenly Fire. Sigh. It was perfection. <3 And on my list too 🙂 Amazing post Joy. <3 I'm so glad you read so many awesome books this year 🙂 Hope you'll read even more awesome ones next year. <3

    • Thanks, Carina. I totally agree with you! City of Heavenly Fire is out of this world. I’m so excited about the new spinoffs!

  • City of Heavenly Fire was a beautiful end to the TMI series! I can’t wait for TDA and TLH!! More Shadowhunters yes please 😉 I bought I’ll Give You the Sun this week so I can’t wait to start it~ Need to check out the rest of the books you’ve got here too 😀

    • Yes. Yes. More Shadowhunters! I’ll Give You the Sun is amazing!

  • I so need to start Written in Red, I have heard nothing but great things about the series. Okay, I will make it a priority this coming year!

    Great list Joy!

    • *gasps* I’m honestly surprised you haven’t read it yet, Ali! You need to do something about that. 🙂

  • I’m definitely reading Night Film after I finish my current read! I’m also hoping to get my hands on All the Light We Cannot See && S this year… and until now I’m still not sure about reading If I Stay…

    • I hope you’ll love Night Film! It’s well-written, evocative, provocative. Just. So so amazing. And All the Light We Cannot See! I have so much love for this book!

  • Ooh, I’m so glad you liked the movie adaptation of If I Stay! I still need to watch it but knowing that you like it has me hoping it gave the book due justice 🙂 I agree, WiR and Archetype was on my list too! I need to check out your other contenders since I normally love books you recommend. Thanks for sharing Joy!

    • Aw. Thanks, Amir. Watch If I Stay. I dare you not to fall in love with Adam. <3 Le sigh.

  • K

I LOVED If I Stay, I really didn’t enjoy the movie but I loved the book! I still need to read City of Heavenly Fire but it’s so big and it’s the last book and I don’t really want the series to be over so I’ve been procrastinating reading it. >.< I really want to read I'll Give you the Sun as I LOVED The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson! 🙂

    I hope you have a great 2015!

    • Thanks, Kyra. I re-read Where She Went as soon as I got home from the cinema. Lol. I really hope you’ll be able to read City of Heavenly Fire soon, and I’ll Give You the Sun is LOVE. READ IT!

  • I’m psyched to see that Written in Red made the cut! I just discovered Bishop’s series at the end of 2013, and have been hooked ever since. Fair warning though, if you’re considering reading her Black Jewels trilogy… don’t. LOL! It’s super dark. However, in all fairness, I haven’t made it past the first installment yet.

    • Thanks for the heads up, Carmel. I’ve seen those in the bookstore, and I’m not even remotely enticed by it. So no worries there. 🙂

  • I haveb’t read any of the books from your The Best of 2014 list, but I’m looking forward to All The Light We Cannot See. You liked If I Stay movie, really? I haven’t read the books, but I watched the movie and I thought it was bad. I probably should have read the books first.

    • Aw. You didn’t like IF I Stay? *sad panda face* I thought it was the best adaptation this year! And we’ve had some pretty great ones (TFioS & Divergent to name a couple). I think it helps if you’re a fan of the books?

  • yoy for the Bishop book! I so loved this series but I haven”t tried the others. I should! thanks for sharing!

    • Absolutely, Melliane. And you know me, I don’t venture too often in that genre. I’m glad that I gave in to peer pressure on that series!

  • Such a great list!! Both All the light we cannot see and The girl you left behind are great. I love Jojo Moyes!

    • Thanks, Cynthia! Yes, for mutual Jojo Moyes love. 🙂

  • Christy

Damn, the only one I’ve read is If I Stay. I really want to read I’ll Give You the Sun. I have it already, so I just need to actually do it.

    • Do it, Christy! I promise you, you’ll love it. 🙂

  • I really need to read All The Lights we Cannot See! And I also own the Aristotle and Dante book, but haven’t gotten round to it yet for some reason. I really will in 2015 because everyone recommends it. I still need to read If I Stay and a Jojo Moyes book! And I agree, City of Heavenly Fire was amazing. 🙂

    • Yes. Yes. Yes to everything, Olivia! These are all amazing authors that you must read. I hope you’ll find the time this year!
