Where the hell have I been?

This always happens. I go away for a little R & R and I have a hard time getting into the swing of things. It’s like a jet lag, even though I only went down to the States. San Diego was fantastic, by the way. We won. Actually we killed them. 31-0 for our San Diego Chargers! So so happy we won. Looking forward to seeing them again next year!

Anyway, that’s where I’ve been. And of course, because I went away for a couple of days, my desk was a disaster area. I have not been able to do much blogging and visiting, for that matter. I’m back, though. So I’ll be by your blogs this weekend. 🙂

Read any good books lately?

As a matter of fact, I have. Because I’ve been away and have had some down time, I managed to read a few books. I definitely enjoyed Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, Magnolia by Kristi cook, and Envy by Sandra Brown. The rest of what I’ve read are just so-so.

Unfortunately, Not a Drop to Drink by Mindi McGinnis was not as enjoyable as I thought it would be. I barely got through two chapters before I set it aside. I’m not giving up on it just yet, but I’m putting those books off for now.

I’ll stalk y’all later!

  • ANNA wants your booooks. Great book haul!!!

  • I’m so glad you had a good trip! And it’s certainly always better to win when you make that trip. 🙂 It’s better to win all the time! Ooh, and I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed Magnolia. It’s such a nice little book. 🙂

  • Woohoo for a winning team, J.! Glad you had a great time! 🙂 Poo for not enjoying Not A Drop To Drink, but sh*t like that happens when you read a lot and hop between genres. Sometimes a great book in one genre makes you indifferent to another one in a different genre. hugs x

  • Getting away is always nice and sometimes totally needed! At least you got a bunch read while you were gone. I hope to take a few days off of work soon…I only have three days saved up. But I’m totally going to use them because I need a few days to sit around on my butt.

Oo my friend is gifting me The Young Elites. I’m totally looking forward to it!

  • My Life sounds good, hope its a great read and that your week is awesome

  • Alise (Readers in Wonderland)

Sounds like you had a fun time 🙂 I enjoyed Not a Drop to Drink but I can’t remember if I didn’t like the beginning at first. So many great books here though, I’m really curious about Exquisite Captive and Black Ice.

  • Christy

Yay for the SD win. I’m a Niners fans, but SD is my back up team. Gotta keep the California love. 😉 I need to read Little Big Lies, people seem to like it.

  • oh I saw want Black Ice it looks so good o.o

  • I still haven’t gotten around to Not a Drop to Drink. I’m iffy on if it is something I’d enjoy? The Young Elites… a favorite of the year so far! I loved it so much. Such a fan of the author’s work. Enjoy!

  • OH EM GEE I remember reading My Life with the Walker Boys back when it was free on Wattpad. Hope you like it! 🙂

  • Oh too bad about Not a Drop to Drink, I guess it’s not a good time to get into it hey? Sounds like you had lots of fun on your time off 🙂 Glad to hear you enjoyed Big Little Liars, that’s on my tBR.

  • I just finished Black Ice and it was pretty good! I thought the plot and romance were both well done. The Young Elites sounds amazing, too! I love Marie Lu’s writing. I hope you enjoy all of your books 🙂

  • I loved Black Ice, I hope you do, too, Joy! I want to read Envy as well. Seems I’m on a Sandra Brown kick. I’m listening to Lethal and loving it. Almost done.

How nice to get away! You were only about 3 hours south of me. Glad to hear you had fun! 🙂

  • Not a Drop to Drink isn’t my kind of book at all, but I enjoyed it! Exquisite Captive definitely not for me — though I loved her contemporary YA. And Black Ice was such a mix — loved the plotting but not the characters.
Look forward to hearing what you think!

  • Happy to see you! And yay for all the fabulous reads and books!

  • Glad to see you enjoyed Magnolia–it’s so cute!–and I’m excited for you to dive into Exquisite Captive which is incredibly compelling and A Blind Spot for Boys as well which I felt had its highs and its lows. Wonderful haul and happy reading!(:

  • Weee~ Magnolia was so cute! I haven’t read Not a Drop to Drink but I’ve heard awesome things about it so I hope you’ll end up enjoying it 🙂

  • Hey, Joy! I myself have been away, so I get you. Getting back into the swing of things is HARD. This is actually the first time I’ve dealt with, so now I feel less like a noob–I’ve weathered my first funk 😉 FYI–I had the same problem with Not a Drop to Drink. Maybe I’ll try it again when I feeling more survivalist . . .

  • Oh nice books! I haven’t read any I confess but heard about some. Happy reading!

  • I’m so glad that you enjoyed Magnolia Joy, it was definitely something that I was in the mood for! I also can’t wait to get a copy of Exquisite Captive, it looks and sounds like a brilliant book. Happy reading! 🙂

  • HAH! I hope you don’t like Not a Drop to Drink, lol (A) it was just not a book for me :p and it is all kinds of boring, all the time. Sigh. Aaaand. Worst ending o.O ANYWAY. YAY for lots of gorgeous books, as always 😀 I cannot wait to read The Young Elites. <3 Hopefully next. If I can get myself to read at all :p I'm glad you enjoyed Magnolia. <3 I will be reading my paperback copy too, someday. Maybe. Probably. Happy reading Joy. <3
