In which I promise not to buy another book for at least six months…

What? I so can do it!

It’s been at least a month since my last Hoarders post. Since then, I’ve accumulated a ton; including some that I’ve procured from our trip to St. Louis. Sadly, I haven’t been doing much reading. But hey, I’ve been doing my part to be out and about in the blogosphere (yay!). This is possibly, the first time that I’ve acknowledge how ridiculous this is (the hoarding). So I promised myself I will not be buying any books until I’ve managed to take a big bite out of my pile. It’s hard, you know? The minute my husband asks whether or not I want to go to the bookstore, I can’t garner up enough strength to say no. He’s the worst (and best) enabler ever.

Books Read:

Currently Reading:

17235026 The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey. It’s taking me a while to finish this one but that’s all on me and not the book’s fault. I am seriously loving this but I get into those type of moods sometimes when I easily get distracted. But this is such a great book. It will have you thinking that not all monsters are evil in nature. Sometimes, humans are worse.

Currently Listening:

19661080 Vampires of Manhattan by Melissa de la Cruz. I’d like to thank HBG Audio for sending me a copy of this audiobook. I’m not gonna lie, my experience with Melissa de la Cruz hasn’t been great but I was actually pretty curious about her latest work. This is the Blue Bloods series in adult fiction, and while I haven’t read those, I’m willing to jump right in. Well, so far, I’m loving it! I’m halfway and I can’t get enough.

Also, can you believe I missed my 3rd year anniversary?!

What the heck? But. I have an itch to change the blog format again, so who knows? Maybe I’ll do something to coincide the change (when I get to it) and the anniversary at the same time. πŸ™‚

Later, peeps!

  • You take the prettiest pictures of your books! πŸ™‚ I really enjoyed Isla and I’ve heard great things about both Midnight Thief and Breathe, Annie, Breathe. I’m planning to read Let’s Get Lost sometime soon, too. I hope you enjoy all of your books πŸ™‚

  • Eeeeee, THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS! I’m so glad you’re enjoying it. It can get pretty intense though–Kate put it down for awhile because she was so nervous for Melanie, I’m not sure if she’s ever picked it up again.

I’m also interested in hearing what you think of CALIFORNIA. I’m reading it now, and it’s…not what I expected.

    Wendy @ The Midnight Garden

  • Happy 3rd anniversary! best wishes.
Great haul and IΒ΄m looking forward to read your review of Jellicoe Road or Finnikin of the Rock.

  • You got so many good and beautiful books! Ah I didn’t know The Bane Chronicles has been published, I need it!

  • I’ve got the girl with all the gifts on hold at the library, I can’t wait to read it after everyone’s vague reviews! For some reason those vague ones just intrigue me so much more. Really beautiful photos lovely, I have missed your blog!

  • Noooo! You turned three and missed it?! πŸ™ Joy, this is a very joyful occasion upon which we need to have cake and a manlicious movie. Also, glass of wine. Do that for me, be a dear! EAT YOUR CAKE. EAT IT! :)))) *huggles*

  • The Girl with All the Gifts! Isla and the Happily Ever After! Can’t wait to read your thoughs on them.

And good luck with your book buying ban! I’m going to miss the *bookporn*, ehem pretty book photos though.

Anyways, happy blogiversary! Here’s to many more~

  • =) Book hoarding can be trouble! I have to go through my stuff every 6 months or so. Otherwise I would be in real trouble.

  • LOL. I make that kind of promise all the time. Guess how many times I’ve followed through . . . ? That’s right–ZERO. But I wish you the best of luck πŸ˜‰

  • My experience with Melissa de la Cruz hasn’t been great thus far either. So I’m curious to see what you end up thinking of that. Yes my book hoarding is out of hand as well. Thought every month now or every three weeks I mail out at least 6 packages to other people/bloggers of my acquired books that I know I won’t read, or don’t want to read or that i have duplicates of.

Argh…though I need some of these books on your hoarder post….and I just won a $100 amazon gift card can you believe it – for books and yet there are none I immediately want to buy…i can’t believe it.

  • Sinner, Finnikin, Jellicoe Road, and Isla are all some of my ultimate favorite books so I can’t wait to see what you make of them. Happy reading, lovely!(:

  • HAH! I could never go SIX months without buying books… best of luck if you try it ;p but you should not πŸ˜€ buying books is the best. Though there days I mostly just pre-order books.. when I get payed, every two weeks πŸ™‚ but that is more than enough money :p I could never stop pre-ordering books; as I cannot afford them when they go up in price after they comes out o.O Hah. ANYWAY. So many amazing books Joy πŸ˜€ So so so much awesome. Sigh. I also bough Quintana paperback. <3 But I didn't know it was coming out πŸ™ I NEED authors to let me know that sort of thing a few months before, hah. So I didn't get to pre-order it. Sobs. But norwegian site had it cheaper πŸ™‚ Just waiting for my beauty to arrive. <3 Hope you love all of these sweetie πŸ™‚ Happy reading. <3

  • Wow, that’s a lot of books! I live in an apartment and have space issues, but if I didn’t I could see myself buying that many books!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics

  • I think calling yourself a book hoarder is an understatement. πŸ˜‰ But, you could be spending your money on much worse things IMO. At least these should keep you busy for a while. I hope you enjoy Sinner; it was a personal favourite of mine this year.

  • six months? @_@ well I’m sure I can’t do that… but yeah, that’s definitely a lot of books… and some of which are books I’m wishing to get myself: Let’s Get Lost, Complicit, the Girl with All the Gifts, etc…
aand goodluck on not buying another book for at least six months XD

  • wow it’s a lot of books there but I love the covers. I know some of them but not all of them. Happy reading!

  • I think my jaw dropped when I saw all of those books! Six months is a long time not to buy books… Couldn’t do it. I have a feeling I’ll be taking over your buying habits as soon as I get a job (and paycheck), so no worries! πŸ™‚ I hope you have a great week Joy!

  • Good lord, Joy! This is quite some haul! I think by now you have enough books to open your own bookstore! Forget about a trip there. I got a physical copy of both Archetype and Prototype for my shelves as well. Yay for audiobooks! Nice to hear your enjoying Melissa’s newest in spite of your luck with her previous books. Enjoy your reads! πŸ™‚

  • I’m glad you’re reading The Girl with All the Gifts! I really loved that book, even though it was on the philosophical, creepy side!

  • Haha I love how you made a promise not to buy anything for at least 6 months. I honestly don’t even want to do that because I’m probably gonna fail right away lol Awesome list, those are so beautiful!!!

  • Eileen @ BookCatPin

That’s definitely a lot of books! I love your floating bookshelves, so pretty! I can never resist a trip to the bookstore either. That’s the first place I head for when I go to the mall πŸ˜‰

  • Love this hoarders post! It made me lol πŸ˜€ so jealous on all of your awesome books!

  • Congrats on all the books and don’t worry, I can’t resist the book store (or a stroll through Amazon either). πŸ˜‰

  • ”In which I promise not to buy another book for at least six months…

What? I so can do it!”

    yea right lol

  • Conversion looks good, hope you enjoy and have a great upcoming week.
