Well, hello there!
I know, I know. I went away there for a while. Excuses will be the same ol’ crap that I’ve been going through for the last months. But. Them’s the breaks, eh? I mean, I’ve got a very demanding job, and family and kids, and…well, life. It just keeps getting in the way. I’m sorry if I haven’t been around. Initially, I was looking forward to having a very productive blogging/reading/reviewing week next week on account of I was going to be on holidays. However, that’s not going to happen now. I have to postpone my vacation until probably the middle of August. It’s just impossible right now. I need to win the lottery so I can stop this madness that I fondly call, “work”. Ay yay yay. The Struggle is real, ya know?
So what’s been going on with me lately? My husband and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary last week with very little fanfare. He was sick for days, so we didn’t get to do anything. Other than that, not a heck of a lot, to be honest. Though, I’ve been reading. My son got sick too, so in the midst of washing puked-on sheets and late night baths, a lot of sleepless nights were spent reading.
I’m happy to say that I’ve had such a great reading streak while I was on mini-hiatus. The only two books that were not fun to read are books 1 and 2 of the Unwanted series by Natasha Anders. The rest were just fantastic! (Sorry for the formatting of these pics. WordPress and I have a very complicated relationship. Sometimes, it likes to play stupid games where it doesn’t do what I want it to do.)
The Strain by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. I’m starting to see the joy of reading horror books. And this only after reading Bird Box. Since these books are now a tv series, I thought I’d check it out. They just happened to be on sale ($5) at my bookstore, so I was able to get books 1 and 2.
Of Metal and Wishes by Sarah Fine. There will be a signed ARC and a bookmark International giveaway being held on the blog on the 27th, along with Collections and BookittyBlog. I’m excited to read this.
The Martian by Andy Weir. Well, I’ve started this and have liked the beginnings. Unfortunately, the constant talks about gardening and botany is starting to bore me. I’m going to pursue, because I think there is a lot of thriller to be had still with this book.
Well, thank you for sticking around, y’all. I’ll be doing my rounds today, so prepare to be stalked!
Have a great week!
