Hello there. I’m sorry for the cheesy filter of my pic. I don’t usually use special effects on my Hoarders post, but I couldn’t resist. My husband got himself a Samsung phone and I wanted to try it out. Meh. Aside from the fact that it has a ginormous screen, nothing special about it. I’m still an iPhone girl. 🙂 Anywho, so how have you all been? The past week has just been the most stressful work week in my entire life. Gawd. I’ve gone home in tears, and seriously considered being a full time mom. If not for the pesky mortgage payments (we have two), private school tuition fees, wicked book buying vice, and horrendous travel budget, I’d have quit right there and there. This taking-over-my-former-boss’ job is killing me. But. Enough of that. I’m just glad the week is over.

So yeah. After BEA, you’d think homegirl will be staying away from bookstores! But noooooooo. Apparently, the piles of book she’d scored in NYC are simply not enough. Sigh. And this is why I could never quit my job. In my defence…actually. I got nothing.

Because my week has been a clusterfuck of epic proportions, I was not able to read anything. At. All. I do have some books on the go, though.

Gasp by Lisa McMann is predictably awesome so far. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is boring me to tears. The Beautiful Ashes by Jeanine Frost is so-so so far.

Downloaded this audio from Sync. I’m not too far into it, but I’m hopeful that I’ll liked it.

Currently Obsessing Over:

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries on YouTube.

I am so so so obsessed with this series on YouTube! OMG. How have I only found out about it now?! Have you guys seen this? It’s Pride & Prejudice set in the era of social media! Annnnddd it was all filmed a couple of years ago. Ugh. Seriously, where the hell was I when this was on?! It’s so freaking awesome. It’s better than any other modern interpretation of the novel ever written in the history of ever. The actors that played the roles were freaking phenomenal, and the story lines?! No words. No words. Except…I skipped the parts of George Wickham. Ugh. Hate him. And Caroline. They should be together! Watch this, y’all. I’d include a little YouTube video,  but my blog sucks. It only posts a link.  Buuuutttt click the link up there and it will bring you to the entire playlist of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries!

  • The Lizzie Bennett Diaries is so cute! I still haven’t watched all of the episodes, though.

I liked both The Sound and The Chapel Wars. I’m so excited to read Take Me On and read West’s story. I hope you enjoy all of your books 🙂

  • Awesome books! The Sound is pretty entertaining and a fun/mysterious beach read. It had me on the edge of my seat a few times. I hope you like it. I also hope work gets better for you. Positive thoughts coming your way! Also, how awesome is Lizzie Bennet Diaries…became obsessed last winter…it’s soooo good!

  • Searching for Sky is SO amazing. It’s like a reverse-dystopian, so it’s pretty unique. And I love the effect on the picture! I usually add filters on my pictures ’cause I’m obsessed with this one app on my phone that does it, haha.
Amazing post! I can’t stop buying books either, even when I have a huge TBR stack by my bed… 😛

  • I like the effect you added on the photo 😛 I think sometimes it adds an extra oomph! 😀
I think bookish people just couldn’t resist buying more books. It’s a curse!
Everyone’s been obsessing about LBD (like Amir and Ella). I haven’t checked it out yet, but I assume I’ll fangirl, too.

  • You’re just now seeing the Lizzie Bennett Diaries? AH! They’re so good! 😀 And I actually didn’t especially like Throne of Glass, but I LOVED Crown of Midnight–so if you find something redeeming in it, I’d give CoM a try! It might surprise you!

I wondered if that was an effect, or if it was just the sun! You could’ve not said and I just would’ve thought it was a glare. 🙂 You know none of us are going to blame you for buying books when you already have tons. I hope your work gets better soon!

  • Oh no, I hope works gets much better! It sucks that the world revolves around money, but at least it’s worth it for all the books and a secure future for your family. 🙂 Yay, Lizzie Bennet Diaries! It’s soooo awesome! I got a review copy of the book that goes along with it, can’t wait to start it!

  • I just downloaded that Code Name Verity from sync. I love knowing that they are mine forever and I don’t have to feel rushed to listen to them like my library audios.

  • I actually like the filter effect! I always put some effects in my photos unless I’m lazy to edit them. Is that the Samsung S5 or Note 3? I will always be an Apple fangirl too.

Don’t be discourage. I know all the hard work will be paid off soon.

I miss reading books written by Lisa McMann. I still need to finish the last book in Dream Catcher series.

PS: I’m now hooked with the Lizzie Bennet series too!

  • YAY for being an iPhone girl, lol 😀 I am too. <3 Always. And ack. So many amazing books sweetie 😀 I hope you are loving Gasp. <3 I did enjoy it, as you know ;p Sigh. Throne of Glass? Yeah. I tried reading it.. two years? ago. I quit at page 80. Boring, as you say. I will try again at a later time, as I am going to own all the books, lol 😀 ANYWAY. Lots of amazing books; as always. <3 I hope you enjoy them all. Happy reading Joy 🙂

  • SO many people have told me I need to make friends with Lizzie Bennet. I haven’t had the time to check her out yet, but I must do it soon!

Apple girl here, too. I think I may need to upgrade this year, because my poor 4s gets a lot of funny looks.

    Wendy @ The Midnight Garden

  • Alise (Readers in Wonderland)

Ah, the Samsung vs Apple debate. I love the new Galaxy, it looks so cool, and I’m always playing with my friends’. I’m a huge Apple fan though, can’t imagine giving that up. So many awesome titles I want to read. I hope you enjoy 🙂

  • Oh, I’m so glad that you mentioned SYNC – I really wanted to get Code Name Verity and I almost forgot! Hope next week at work is better!

Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction

  • I actually just watched Mansfield Park last night because I was in the mood forsome Jane Austen! Pride and Prejudice is one of my all time favorites and I inhale all retelling of this book and since you and I have similar tastes I am totally checking this out now! And Inked Armor!!! Need to buy that soon! I didn’t know Jeanine Frost has a new book, too bad it’s so-so but I am curious. Off too YT now!

    • Oh, and in sorry that you had a stressful week, hopefully this coming week will be loads better <3

    • Yes! From one Jane Austen fan to another, I hope you’ll enjoy. Can’t wait to hear what you think. 🙂

  • Hope everything gets better at work.
And about your haul…I want to read the mayority odf them, especially Say What You Will.
    Enjoy your books!

  • Aw, sorry for the rough week, big hugs.

  • I’m really curious about Guy in Real Life and Frost’s latest work — I just can’t figure out whether or not to add them to the TBR — but I’m so glad you discovered LBD! Looooove them and Emma Approved too. Enjoy! 😉

    • Me too, but the reviews on GR hasn’t been all that great. Boo.

  • I’m so sorry that you had such an awful week 🙁 Hope next week is a little bit better and less stressful! *hugs*

  • Sorry you have had such a rough week, hopefully it gets better soon for you.

*hugs* Congrats on all the books, that had to have helped just a little with the crappy week. 😉

  • Cool haul. Sorry you’ve had a stressful week. Hope things look up. I’m actually a Samsung Galaxy girl so in its defense, it has a great camera and yes, I love that larger screen lol

I’ve only now discovered that series on youtube as well, thanks to you 🙂

    Happy Reading!

  • Why is it that getting a lot of books just makes you want more?
I’m sorry you weren’t able to come to the picnic, but we’ll have it again next year. Hopefully you’ll be there and I’ll be feeling better and it won’t rain 🙂
    Jen @ YA Romantics

    • Right? This insatiable need is getting ridiculous! And yes, hope to run into you next time I go. 🙂

  • I’m sorry to hear that you are not enjoying TOG or The Beautiful Ashes. I sometimes find that my mood can affect what I read. I sometimes will switch books if I’m not enjoying them.

    Grace

    • Thanks, Grace. I think that’s a good idea, actually. Switch reads.

  • OMG I really love the LBD on Youtube, sooo addictive! I wish they came out with more! I totally know what it feels like to have a crappy work day/week/year, and it sucks. But the good thing is that we aren’t married to it 🙂 I hope your next week is better.

    • Thanks, Jeann. So not looking forward to Monday. Sigh.

  • WOOOOT FOR THE LIZZIE BENNETT DIARIES! THEY ARE THE BEST!

Also another yay that you’re enjoying Gasp! I loved the first two books and haven’t had time to read this one but I am so excited to! I really hope I love it as much as I loved books 1 and 2! 🙂

I am sorry that you aren’t enjoying ToG more 🙁 I didn’t like it too much myself but perhaps it’ll get better for you? 🙂

I am sorry you had a rough week though *hugs*. DO IT FOR THE BOOKS (said every bookworm EVER)! 🙂 I do hope that things get better and the job becomes more manageable 🙂

Fantastic bookhaul (I spot some very pretty covers in there ;))!

HAPPY READING JOY! And I hope this week is better for you 🙂

    • Thanks, Rashika. 🙂 I spent the entire weekend soaking up all the episodes of TLBD. Can’t get enough! And then I spend some more time re-watching some favourites.

I really am bummed out that Throne of Glass is not turning out to be as great as most have claimed. Right now, I really am losing patience with it. 🙁

      • I watched the whole series within a week.. I was that addicted. I want to re-watch them too because it was just so much fun! 😀

I know :/ I was pretty disappointed too, I thought it was good but not nearly as good as everyone made it sound.. I didn’t read the sequel but people do say it’s better so I plan on giving it a shot.. eventually…

OH ALSO, you should try Poison Study if you haven’t read it already, the initial premise is similar but IMO it’s infinitely better :’) Plus all the books are out so no waiting 🙂

  • I’m really curious about the Frost new books, I can’t wait to read your thoughts about it. Happy reading:

  • Woo, hoo! I’m so excited to have found this post, because this seriously sounds awesome! Will be watching, thanks! 🙂

    Erin @ Raised Reading

    • I hope you’ll like it, Erin! I’ll be looking forward to your reactions. 🙂

  • Joy, *sad face* sorry your week sucked big time! Considering how you are NOT enjoying reading Maas, I don’t think you should be reading at all right now. Doctors recommend instead a girls day out with a cheesy man candy movie, lots of yummy cocktails and a cake. Yep, that should do it 🙂 Huge hugs, sweetheart! Hope next week is much, much better. P.S. If I was there I’d sort you out in no time :))

    • Ugh. I know! Considering I waited three hours for a copy of Heir of Fire. Grrrrr…I’m bored. 🙁

  • Christy

Are you effing kidding me? I was just typing out a hella long comment and my effing browser did something stupid and lost is. Effer. I’ll sum it up: hope work gets better, tell them to piss off. Yay Take Me On. Will check out the YT show.

    • Oh boo. I hate when that happens! Love the summarization, though. 🙂 Lol.
