Things have certainly calmed down some for me here. I’m learning the ropes at work, and adjusting to the limited time I have left for reading and blogging. I say, the past week has been good.
On the reading front, I discovered a wonderful series that I never thought I could like. Anne Bishop’s The Others reminded me of when I first discovered The Black Dagger Brotherhood. I was completely swept away, and consequently left wanting to read more. So this week, I found some recommendations from other bloggers that could be worth checking out. I’m going to slowly ease my self into them, though. So perhaps, I’ll read one book from this genre per week. Details below.
I would consider this haul still within my budget (?) as three of these books cost $5 each (Zero, Violence 101, Out of the Wild). So technically, I only paid full for five of these. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
Zero by Tom Leveen | Violence 101 by Denis Wright | Out of the Wild by Sarah Beth Hurst
The Strange & Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton
Year of Mistaken Discoveries by Eileen Cook | The Well’s End by Seth FishmanNet Galley
I have disciplined myself by requesting only a couple of books at a time on Net Galley, so my choices has to be something that I really, really want to read. I haven’t requested any books for at least a month; I thought I was due for a couple. While I know quite a bit about The Rules for Breaking, I’ve never read Nantucket Blue. I’ve heard good things about it though.
Because of Anne Bishop’s The Others series, I’ve developed quite a taste for the paranormal. So I bought a couple of books which I’ve seen at Nocturnal Book Reviews. I wanted to start somewhere and dive into some unexplored paranormal territory.
