Hoarders, Books Edition: Episode 71

Hello.
This week was another slow week here on my blog. I’ve been sick so I didn’t think it was a good idea for the medicated me to write anything. I managed to read some phenomenal books – The Fault in Our Stars, being one of them. God. This book. Anyway, I’m hoping to have some reviews lined up for next week. This is what I got.
A Time of Change by Aimée & David Thurlo This was sent to me for review by Tor/Forge. I don’t really know much about it except that it sounds like a Mystery/Western Romance type of book. Sounds interesting anyway. Thanks so much, Tor!
Dark Peril by Christine Feehan This is book #21 of the Dark series. I haven’t read them but I bought the first book on sale. I figure I’ll hunt them down until I have the entire series.
Quintana of Charyn by Melina Marchetta As always, I try to buy any new release by Ms. Marchetta. I just need to wait for the paperback copy and then I’m set.
Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout I can’t seem to bring myself to read books 2 and 3 of this series but I ended up buying book 4 anyway. Sigh.
Love Letters by Katie Fforde This sounds like a nice contemporary read. Looking forward to reading this!
Icons by Margaret Stohl Fairly lukewarm reception for this one. It sounds interesting, anyway.
Game [Jasper Dent, #2] by Barry Lyga Loved the first book, dying to read this one as well.
Life After Theft by Aprilynne Pike So…I’m not a fan of mean girls and private schools in books. I don’t know why I picked this up, to be honest. I’m willing to give it a go anyway.
Dear Life, You Suck by Scott Blagden Looking forward to this one. It sounds like a laugh-out-loud read.
Unbreakable [Unraveling, #2] by Elizabeth Norris Just another series that I’ve been looking forward to reading. But now that it’s here, I can’t seem to pick it up. Sigh.
The Eternity Cure [Blood of Eden, #2] by Julie Kagawa I really need to start The Immortal Rules.
Under the Hawthorn Tree by Ai-Mi I’m going to start this book right now. It’s a historical novel set in China and the love story sounds epic. Can’t wait!
I showed you mine. Show me yours?
  • Aww. I'm so happy you discovered Ms. Marchetta through me. The rest as they say, is history. 🙂

  • I'm so happy Quintana of Charyn is finally out! Thank you so much for introducing me to Melina Marchetta. I read her books because of one of your post about her and so I decided to check out Finnikin of the Rocks to see why you liked it so much. I LOVED IT and now I'm addicted to her books. I need to get a copy of Quintana of Charyn soon 😀

  • Ahh, I cannot wait to read your review of The Fault in Our Stars. <3 Just so glad that you loved it. Sniffs. And ohh. You got so many awesome books. <3 Sigh, I adore the hardcover of Quintana 😀 And The Eternity Cure is an amazing book. <3 Hope you enjoy it all sweetie 🙂

  • i have to tell you, you NEED to pick up Pure! You might not have liked Half Blood all that much but from Pure, this series GETS SOO GOOD! I read books 2,3 and 4 last month and am in love!! also, awesome book haul, a ton of great ones! Love Letters DOES sound like a cute contemporary and ill be adding it to my tbr!

  • I finished The Eternity Cure a few days ago and I loved it. Much better than the first book, actually, but there seem to be mixed feelings on that. I look forward to hearing your opinion.

I also have not heard much about Icons so I am all ears as to what you think. I hope you feel better.

  • Joy an epic haul once again, I love that you have a copy of The Eternity Cure, I will be on your case until you start it, as this is one follow up book that shouldn't be missed! Hope you enjoy all the rest of your reads too! 🙂

  • I read Dark Peril by Christine Feehan, enjoy!

  • Oh shit, I didn't know there was a sequel to I Hunt Killers. I haven't even read the first book yet. Crap. Okay, totally bumping that up on the reading list. Just try Life After Theft and think of it as more of a fun book. I liked the MC and his POV.

  • Oh, wow, that's a lot of awesomeness in one place. I actually hugged my copy of Quintana when it arrived, I was so happy! I did read an arc before, but this was different. A whole finished copy just for me. *wipes tears*
I'm about to read Game too, and I totally loved Unbreakable and Eternity Cure and Apollyon.
    Happy reading!

  • The last time I was sick, I discovered several new television shows. Shame on me. 🙁

However, I am looking forward to my summer vacation, when teaching ends in a few weeks. I'll have two weeks off before taking a course. Half my days will be for reading and I've already started to overwhelm myself with how books I want to read. 🙂

    Get feeling better!

  • AMAZING haul! Icons, Apollyon, Eternity Cure, Game, Unbreakable. Ahhh! Hope you enjoy them all 🙂

  • Hahahah! Okay, thanks for the heads up, K. 🙂 I will cease and desist!

  • NOOOO! J., seriously save your money and don't buy all Feehan. It's really not worth your money. Plus last few books were extremely godawful and sexist to the point of leaving me livid with rage. It's very old-fashioned PNR which did well in the beginning of 2000, but since then better and more worthy of your attention books have been published. I beg you, just don't.
Apart from that, I've heard good things about Icons so I hope you enjoy it and the rest of your lovelies! 🙂

  • I hear awesome things about The Eternity Cure, I need to read the first one ASAP!
