Another easy, fast read. I tell you, if you’re ever on the look out for something to escape in, there’s no better distraction than the Sullivans – the men, specifically.

This book is about Zach, love em and leave em kind of guy, whose expertise in cars equal his expertise in flirtation and seduction. But he may have his hands full with a puppy and the dog trainer who won’t give him the time of day. When Heather acquiesced to a sex only relationship with Zach, she didn’t anticipate the ease with which the man could get under her skin. Having been a witness to just how much it would hurt for a loved one to betray her trust, she wasn’t too keen to letting anybody in. But Zach is also a go-getter, never-give-up type of guy, so even if Heather freezes him out, he’s got the moves to thaw her out. Besides, who wouldn’t want that kind of arrangement?

So these two has issues that could’ve added another layer to their story. But I guess Ms. Andre decided not to explore it too much because it would add a pinch of angst to an otherwise, smooth-sailing, safe series.

If You Were Mine is enjoyable enough; but don’t expect more than what the summary’s given.

Ryan Sullivan is the kind of hero that I’m fond of reading about. I’m a big sports nut and muscled athletes just blow my skirt right up.  Anyway, he’s been in love with his best friend since they were fifteen but he didn’t want to mess up that friendship by letting the horny teen out and making a pass at Vicki – the artistic introvert who saved him from being crushed by a car. Many years gone by, relationships crashed and burned and he gets a text message from Vicki needing his help. Long story short, they finally get a chance to own up to each other’s secret longing and lusting for one another. But old habits die-hard as they let their own insecurities wiggle its way in the middle of a blossoming, steamy, er…situation.

Lots of sex – hot and long winded. But heck, it was hot and steamy. And did I mention it was hot? Trust. There is a story somewhere in here but it’s kind of hard to focus on it when all you could ever do is drool over a fictional character. Anyway. Another one of those books that can whisk you away from the suck-fest that is real life. The weather outside is -30 C and I don’t even know what the windchill factor is. My point is Bella Andre’s series might just thaw me out from this perpetual deep freeze. Sigh.

Which brings us to the last book of this series. This is about Smith – Hollywood actor, skirt-chaser, drop dead gorgeous, second to the oldest of the Sullivan bunch. As per usual, little drama, sweet romance and sex. Again, if it’s angst you’re after, you’ll never find it in this book.

Maybe I’m losing my mind. I can’t believe I’m actually looking for angst. I guess I figured something out about my taste in Romance; maybe I need a hint of bitterness in all the sweetness. And maybe I do need a little bit of angst to be affected by a book. Because I swear, I read this series a little too fast and with very little empathy to the characters. I couldn’t find it in me, unfortunately. I need some waves to rock the love boat. Because otherwise, we remain floating above a still water…and what’s the fun in that?
