2012

I know I’ve been conspicuously absent lately but it really was my intention. I took some time off work to get through the holidays because it was my family’s first Christmas holiday at home. We’ve been traveling for the last few years during the winter break and due to some financial worries of the year, we’ve decided to stay at home. It was madness! But we all had fun. I think a new tradition is born.

I didn’t get much presents this year – book wise, anyway. My cousin gave me a gift card from Chapters/Indigo and that was it. I think everyone pretty much stayed away from giving me any kind of bookish presents just because they don’t really know what to give me.
Unfortunately, I just outted Santa to my 11 year old. I took a picture of Santa’s presents as they were being wrapped and when she borrowed my phone, she saw the pics! Gawd. Mother of the year, I swear. So there’s that. One less present to buy next year, I suppose. That’s my Christmas. New Year’s Eve will be nothing special in this household. We’ll probably end up sleeping through it. Sad but true.
Anyway, this post was about my 2012 – technically the first full year of this blog. I loved 2012. I’ve met  quite a few awesome people – bloggers and non-bloggers alike. The blog grew exponentially and working towards expanding my reading horizon. There were some fantastic books that came through my path – unforgettable books that have left an impression. In no particular order, here are the books that have topped my list for the year:

I failed to reach my goal for 2012 but that’s okay. I think I bit off more than I can chew anyway so there’s no one to blame but me. I don’t think I will be finishing anymore books in the next day or two so I’m ending 2012 with 271 books. I think that’s still a pretty good total but that number also includes some DNFs and novellas. I say, 250 is more like it. So next year, I’m going to start off with 200 and then increase that number in increments of 10 books closer the I hit my target.
