Shelf Envy [18]: Tiffany of Escaping One Book at a Time

My sweet Tiffany is strutting her stuff today! I don’t know anyone who’ve never heard of this girl but she’s one of the sweetest, hardworking blogger/reviewer I know. I invited her a while back but she’s put me off for the longest time. The nerve! 🙂 Kidding. So then she goes to me, “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.” Say what?! Actually, that’s not a bad idea at all. So today, folks. You can check out my SHELF ENVY post on her blog while you take a look at hers on my blog. Confused yet?
It’s simple, really. After you check out Tiffany’s shelves here, head on over to her blog and check mine out. Here’s the link: Escaping One Book at a Time
I just want to point out that Tiffany has a copy of Kama Sutra here somewhere. Hah. My little girl is all grown up. *sniffs* I’m so proud of her.  Damn, Tiff. You got a lot of books. 🙂
What entices you to buy certain books? Reviews? Covers?

I would be lying if I said that cover had nothing to do with it.  I’m horrible I know but I am more attracted to pretty covers or ones that have something that is particularly eye catching.  This is why I end up impulse buying so often.  However I have a massive “To Buy” list because of reviews that I have read along with the covers.  Sometimes a review on a book will make a book more appealing to me or introduce me to something I wouldn’t have picked up due to lack of attraction.  I do try however try to do 2 things:
  1.  Not let a review stop me from reading something I had my eye on prior to reading it, after I already bought it.
  2. Judge the book 100% by the cover.  I do actually read the description before I buy the pretty book 🙂

Is there a particular system you follow when you organize your bookshelves?

Um…  Maybe?  There is some sort of method to my madness right now or at least I think there is.  Right now it goes ARC’s and their partners (if there is one), Indie’s and then it run into what the book is about.  That is where I got somewhat creative lol I started with Dystopian, that moved gradually to Zombies, to Reincarnation, Mythology, Angels and so on.  Looking at it sometimes it really doesn’t makes sense but I was happy at the time.  This means it could likely be rearranged into colours, years or any other random order any day now.

Which author do you follow the most?

That’s so hard because many of my needs are Indie’s and I can’t get my hands on them right away.  However as you know I am a MASSIVE Kailin Gow fan.  Her books release on and I hate having to wait until they come out on The Book Depository or 🙁 Brina Courtney is another that I completely adore.  Sarah Alderson (Hunting Lila, Fated) is another one I am seriously watching but if I could I would ramble on and on about many authors I love for various reasons 🙂

Name a book that you go back to time and time again when you’ve hit the proverbial “reading slump”.

Actually I don’t have one go to book in particular.  I kind of have some various books that I go to because it depends on the slump.  For the most part though I go to the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris and I do mean the entire series.  I read the entire series between 2-4 times a year.  Rather than that I have books from different genres that I pick up because I find that my slumps normally start with a genre so it’s best to have a back up for different kinds.

Is there a book that you can consider as your most coveted but can’t find? What’s stopping you from getting it?

There are actually quite a few of these for me.  The one I am in constant search of a HB copy of Stolen by Kelley Armstrong.  I stumbled upon Bitten a bit back and am trying to get the entire series in HB.  I found out later that they don’t all come in that format which is sad but the one I am having the hardest time with is Stolen and mostly because of the cost for the copies I do find.  So needless to say I have only some of the series and haven’t read past Bitten because I can’t get book #2 yet lol.  I will cave some day I am sure but I am sticking to my guns for now.

Do you have a reading spot at home?
My reading spot consists of wherever I feel I am least likely to be disturbed.  This is normally the couch, bed, reading chair in my room or in nice weather out on my front porch.  I’m not picky and to be honest once I am into a book it doesn’t really matter.  My favourite shelves probably consist of my Mermaid shelf and my Indie shelf.  The first because of my obsession with Mermaids and the second because there are many, many AMAZING books on the Indie shelf.

Thank you for asking me to do this Joy!  You know I have serious envy for your shelves so this is an honour.

You’re welcome, Tiff. And thanks for indulging me. So…you’re looking for the Women of Underworld series by Kelly Armstrong, are you? Let’s talk. I may have books 1 – 8 that I’ve flounced on. 🙂

Why am I not surprised about your Kailin Gow obsession? I swear you’re about to go Kathy Bates on her. Lol!
