Shelf Envy, G!veaway, Name that Book. Oh My!

Okay, boys and girls. I’m so excited for today’s happenings on the blog. I’ve never been a part of anything like this before and I’m glad y’all are here to be part of this. Ali Cross, author of Desolation series, have asked for help to name the third book to the series. So to kick that off, there are other bloggers participating in this “hop” as well. I hope you’ll take the time to visit them as there are goodies to be won, y’all! Books, swag and a $10 in TBD bucks! So the more blogs you visit, the better your chances at winning.
Anyway, Ali is here today (she’ll be everywhere today lol! ) to give us a peek at her bookshelves. Down at the bottom of this post are instructions on how you may be able to enter the fantastic giveaways Ali is hosting!
  1. What was the last book you purchased?
  1. Is there a book that gets you through the toughest times of your life? Which and how?
Oh yes. The Fionavar Tapestry (a trilogy) by Guy Gavriel Kay. It has the most beautiful writing I’ve ever read, the most moving story. I can laugh out loud and cry real tears—even on my third or fourth (or fifth read-through). I’ve never been able to read a novel more than once—once I know what happens, it’s just not that interesting to me. The Fionavar Tapestry (THE SUMMER TREE, WANDERING FIRE & THE DARKEST ROAD) is the only story I’ve read more than once. I read it when I’m sad. I read it when I need my creative well fed. I read it just to feel alive and to fall in love with the written word again.
  1. Name your ultimate top 5 books.
Just to be sort of interesting, I’ll call The Fionavar Tapestry ONE book. So, that would be #1. #2 = INK EXCHANGE by Melissa Marr, #3 = THE ADORATION OF JENNA FOX by Mary E. Pearson, #4 = SURRENDER by Elana Johnson and #5 = OPEN MINDS by Susan Kaye Quinn.
Except I really think you should let me pick my top TEN, because then I’d add, #6 = BROKEN by C.K. Bryant, #7 = TRANSCEND by Christine Fonseca, #8 = BLACK SHIPS by Jo Graham & all the Allie Beckstrom (by Devon Monk) novels.
  1. What’s the most scandalous book on your shelves?
Probably the Allie Beckstrom novels, lol. They’re adult urban fantasy and all have at least one, ahem, *scene*, in them.
  1. What are you reading now?
I’m uber lucky and am currently reading an ARC of NEVERLOVE by Angela Brown (Oct 2012). It’s a paranormal romance story that’s so unique and interesting. I’m really enjoying it!
This was fun, Joy, thank you!

Lol! Sneaky, Ali. 🙂 I always get a complain when I ask guests to name their top 5 books. Five books are never enough, isn’t it? I’m going to have to check out this Allie Beckstrom novels. Sounds like something I would enjoy (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).
